The fires here in Cali are out of control, one is pretty close to where I work, but still a few miles away and shouldn't reach us (famous last words, right?).

A friend has a shop at the North end of Lake Elsinore, and when I was up that way Wednesday evening, residents said, "oh, we're safe, they won't evacuate us because the fire will go past us." The next day they had mandatory evacuations.

Last night I went to check on my friend's shop to see if there was a threat for it to burn down. I went past the lines, further than I should have and was able to walk up the hill and check on his shop. The fires burned the hill behind the shop but looked to be done and all the structures on that street were saved.

Here are a few pics from my visit last night.

Thats crazy. Wishing the best to all of you folks out in Cali.

I hope all is well...

stay safe

another bad fire season here in the North & South

Is the fire on the West or East side of I15 ? I've got friends in Elsinore and Wildormar.

My brother lives outside Sacramento. He says everything is covered with ash/soot and thers is a smell of smoke and a haze in the air. he's been staying inside (also over 100*) !!!

Yeppirs... I used to live in Redding, my old digs got evacuated a few days ago.
Thank god for 1st responders & the firefighters/smoke jumpers etc.

Yep one of my sisters was evacuated temp.
in northern part outside of Redbluff area

one of my Nieces & her family was temp. evacuated in Redding area
Carr Fire IIRC

my brothers Dr. offices were evacuated in
Weaverville {not sure ?} & Whiskeytown areas too
Carr Fire IIRC

I have another sister down by the Lake fire/Pawnee fire
by Clearlake
she was warned a couple times, no mandatory yet
I guess it's a really bad one too,
she's said "she has seen fire a few times on ridges"
thankfully it's not going her direction "yet"

I have a cousin lives up by the Donnell Fire
it's nasty up there really rough & steep terrain
hard to fight, mostly planes & retardant drops

I'm pretty far away from most the Donnell
& Mariposa/Yosemite fires, we are getting the smoke
from most of them depending on the wind direction...

the 100* heat isn't any different, than most normal years,
but the fire fighters & the heat aren't good

My neighbor across the street from me, is a big wig for CalFire
he's been working on most all them fires, at one point or other
http://www.fire.ca.gov/firemaps

I hope all people stay safe, evacuate if need be...

Sad part is some of the fires were dumbasses,
or being totally careless/clueless, ignorant, who started them...

It really sucks, thank goodness they are all OK & smart...
I have family all over Calif., Or. & Western Nevada
I have a lot of opinions about the subject too,
about proper forestry management issues, but I won't go there...
not right now, not yet

The fire came up over the hill from Rancho Santa Margarita and has stayed on the West side of I15. It's now heading south towards Ortega Highway just West of Grand Ave in Lake Elsinore.

I'm here in Illinois, watching the news and YouTube videos wondering how much

longer can these fires burn? I guess as long as they have fuel, forever! This **** isn't funny.

I don't have any relatives in the area anymore, but it still bothers me that so much destruction

is happening. How do so many people start over again when everything is lost? Be safe with your Family

and git while the Gitt'ns good!
