Never would of thought that a collection in ALBERTA Canada would hold 7 Superbirds, just watch a show called THE GUILD THAT IS IN Ontario Canada that told of this lucky guy who wants to sell them all of.Blows my mind,I am lucky to have 1 mopar anyone else see that show.

I lived in Calgary from '86 to '88 and that guy had all those wing cars back then. He knows what he's got and there definately won't be any bargains!

Actually, Dwayne has/had 9 and a '64 Plymouth, a GTX and a Charger I believe. (as well as some Fords) No "luck" there I'm sure.

I remember many years ago one of the big MOPAR magazines did an article on a restored Hemi car from Alberta. The owner remarked that back in the late sixties and early seventies Alberta was going through an oil boom and there were many young rig hands with a lot of money who subsequently bought muscle, and yes, Hemi cars. The featured car was one of three that he found in a field. He sold two, kept one.
I always viewed this article with suspicion as starting in the mid seventies a few friends and I would spend our holidays scouring back roads looking for a Hemi. Never found even one. The closest we came was in Grande Prairie (Alberta, not Texas) a guy had a ‘68 Road Runner. You could clearly see “Hemi “ outlined in faded paint where the badge had been removed. It had the worst metal flake paint job I’ve ever seen. Huge gold flakes in dark blue paint. A genuine blue shag interior. It had a 383 automatic, no longer a Hemi four speed. We tried getting the location of the motor out of him but all he would say was that it had been blown up in Saskatchewan.
Asking price on the car was $3500, a lot of money for what it was then.
Here in the arctic the local Ford dealership actually found a six pac Super Bee on a property here in the early nineties. They restored it and sold it to a young guy who immediately rolled and totaled it.
Until quite recently there was a real Super Bird daily driver beater just north of me in Yellowknife. It was sold new there, 440 car. The owner must have finally caved and sold it as it hasn’t been seen for a few years. It was a surreal experience to drive down the street to get groceries and see a beater ‘Bird.

Back in '86 or so I met Mike Harris in Calgary - a true Mopar guy. He had a wrecked Hemi Superbird that he was restoring. Prior to Mike buying it, the guy mentioned in the original post had somehow acquired the hemi but it was not in the best of shape. Mike wanted the numbers matching block and was willing to trade a good standard bore block plus some $$ for it but the guy wouldn't bite because he wanted the car. They never did come to terms as far as I know. Mike did finish the restoration and got a write-up in one of the Mopar mags a few years back. When I saw the Superbird back in the '80's Mike, who was an excellent bodyman, had cut off virtually every panel to rebuild the car. It had been severely rolled and caved in the roof, which - I'm guessing the guys who rolled it - had jacked up with a bumper jack wedged between the dash and roof.

Actually it was Steve Harris and it was a 69 Hemi Daytona. and He does still have it.. Reason I know the car is He was my old boss. and it sat in the back of the old shop.. he had that car long before I worked for him and Lindsey. the shop at the time was Autoban off of 32 street N.w in Calgary.. he did not like folks peering in on his find... rightfuly so... its a pretty good story told and a Cool car that has been restored..

This is 100%. Just saw it in September. Nice car. Steve painted a friends 60 bee back in the early 90’s. Still looks good.

There is an older gentleman in the Bristol, VA area (I won't disclose his actual address) who has daily driven a Superbird as long as I can remember, warts and all. Lives very modestly and the car wasn't garaged last time I was up his way.
Very humble fellow, although he was long since tired of folks approaching him trying to buy it all the time.
He did finally break down and get the body and paint redone a few years back and he did bring it to local cruise-ins last I saw:

As long as you didn't approach him all foamy at the mouth, he's quietly friendly and loves to tell stories once you've gained his confidence. :)

In the early 90's the mopar meets in Red Deer were amazing. If we are talking about the same guy, he had 12 wing cars in a dairy barn. Brought a freshly restored black hemi Daytona, it was amazing. There were 2 Hemi GTX convertibles, Hemi Chargers etc. at those meets. We found a lot of mopars in Central Alberta.

Like I said, it was back in the '80's so my memory has faded a bit. The Daytona was in his back yard and home shop back then.

I found a lot of stuff when I lived in Calgary. My theory was that a) there had been a lot of money to be spent during the boom times and b) there was no industry to use the scrap metal and so the cars remained in fields and wrecking yards.

I know what your saying. My memory slipped abit from days gone by.

The end of town i lived in had some prettycool mopars. I do remember a black on black 68 or 9 charger that had all the bells and whistles he was a aviation engineer and kept it in top notch, alot of those still exist. The hoard of birds and others is in mid Alberta. A buddy of mine Mike Stunzi bought ao many cars from washington and Idaho and brought those up. Aars R/t challengers max wedge cars. The list goes on. There up here.

I remember going to college in Edmonton in the early ‘90’s and down the block there was a ‘70 AMC Rebel Machine.
Nobody cared about any AMC other then two seater AMX’s so it just sat and as a poor student I couldn’t do it. Always wondered about it. That, and the Shelby convertible I found in a field by Lethbridge.

Lethbridge had tons of good mopars in wrecking yards.

I remember touring a Lethbridge wrecking yard in 1979 and they had nice, rust free, ‘65-‘66 mustang fast backs stacked up on top of each other.
Yep. Hepps and Marshalls Marshalls had the back 40 full.

Sahara ,

that beater bird is still in his collection and he has since moved the bird south, completely restored a few years ago. I thought the same of the dissapearance after it left my buddy's body shop until i saw pics of his daughter and grand kids enjoying it recently. nice to know its still out there !

There are a few wing cars in Saskatchewan, and more than a few other Mopar Hemi cars. About 10 years ago a real 70 or 71 Hemi Challenger without engine or trans sold for 5000.00 Canadian.
