So as I am working towards getting the **** bucket roadworthy I don’t think my carborator will clear the hood without opening it up. I have not yet determined what I will do in the long run ie scoop or just an exposed carb air filter etc. or if someone will give me an air grabber set up (my prefernce).

I am wondering if I can even register the car here in AZ without the hood until I figure it out. I am thinking no for no good reason. I don’t see it stipulated anywhere.

I'm interested in this too. I have a hood for my car, but it won't clear the valve covers, let alone the carb, and I will be moving to az soon.

i don't know if a hood is needed. look at all of the sandbuggy's open call mvd they can tell you.

welcome to az nice to have another mopar guy here. where will you be landing.

Never tried no hood but one time my car was turned down for using heavy duty springs to hang the exhaust system but took it to another gas station/inspection place, I pointed it out before wasting his time and he looked and said, cool. Also said there was nothing in the book that said it had to have rubber hangers. If your state is anything like Texas (or other states), these inspection places should have a 'book of rules' that you can look through and if they say no they don't, question them why not and where can you look them up. Nowadays, it's probably on line.....

I guess I'm a complete idiot. I saw this at irwindale drags at the match race madness, and took a picture BECAUSE it was street legal and had current arizona tags.

nope they drive them around here all the time also golf carts

i believe as long as the safety stuff works you are good to go.

if you are coming in from california you can get a inspection at the border. then easy to get plates. if your plates are good now you can do like everyone else drive it until they run out.

You call the MVD that place sucks. I don’t think they answer their phones. Even if they did they wouldn’t know the answer and if they say one thing then you go in and they would say something else! Not online that I can find. I hate gooong to these places where customer service is non existent but yet they get freaken pensions arg...

@bearman , bought a house just outside bullhead with an eight car garage and a carport big enough for a motor home and a hoist. I'm going to keep a socal house, the girlfriend has good relationships with her Kaiser doctors here, she has had back surgery, neck surgery, breast cancer, and is currently recovering from knee replacement.
I see lots of travel in my future.

I have not yet plated

wow poor girlfriend hope she gets better. your going to need a hell cat to run back and forth. might save on gas at 140 mph.

moparfriend did the car from az when you bought it or did you get it from out of town.

@bearman , yeah she's a wreck, lol, but she heals like nobody I ever saw. Out of the hospital same day as her new knee, walked into the house with a cane.

holy cow, thats crazy she must be real strong willed.

Yes it was played here in AZ by the original owner!

Ron ... since you already have an AZ title you just go to the DMV and have the title put in your name. There is no level 1 or level 2 inspection required.

I assume you'll be getting Classic car insurance so you won't need to worry about the annual emission inspection.

dryheat, did you get to work on the 64 today. remember if you need me to help i'm there
