This the only part of it you have? Looks like it is the 70 push in style.
I'm a 66-67 person and I agree its not correct, but you are going to need a lot more than a inland shifter handle. It in no way will attach to what you have. The actual shifter and linkage are different also. Most people back in the day changed to the Hurst because they had problems shifting the Inland unit. I had to learn how to shift them, because I didn't have enough money then to buy a Hurst.

That is not a 70.........It is a 68-69 console shifter handle.....
Has the handle at the base been altered?
I wasn't sure from the pictures, but I knew it was a console type shifter handle with the 68-69 top bar. I wasn't sure what looked like possibly a detent ball on the base was a hole for the bolt on style Hurst in 68-69 or the actual 70 style push in. Thanks for the help.

Factory original handle from my low mileage 69 GTX......The only difference is the bend......68-69 hurst units for this handle was "never" bolt in style.....This handle changed in 1970...

What is under your ring finger in the photo? Is it a hole or a detent ball? My 68 Hemi RR didn't have a console but the area that I'm talking about was a hole and when inserted into the shifter a bolt held it in. I cannot say on this car that it was original as I was the 4th owner and a good bit had been done before I acquired it. My 68 Formula S 383 4-speed Barracuda was also a non-console car and a 20K mile original car with a repaint. In replacing the clutch in this car the shifter handle was also bolted the same way. Although the handle was different for the A body it attracted the same. I don't know if production date has anything to do with this or not, and I'm not doubting you on your car. This just what I personally saw on 2 cars that I owned.
Apparently I have opened a can of worms, but I have a console inland shifter handle or 2. I will have to get them out to determine condition and price as at this time I have no interest in your handle.

I have had many 68/69 4 speed (non inland)b bodies cars console/non console.....The shifter in question I have had many handles and constantly search for pristine originals. They are all the "push" in style...They all have the single "hole" just as mine does. The hole is where it "locks" in the retainer strips in the hurst unit.......The only shifter that was not "push" in was the inland shifter in 68....all others are "push" in......
Chrysler had a fallout with Hurst over saving pennies and that is when the "inland" came available and it was a junk shifter....The accountants realized fast their mistake and they went back fully with hurst.....
Now a lot of people have changed hurst units and drilled holes in the handles to accept the bolts. I have not seen where someone drilled a hole for a single bolt but they could have......That scenario may have been done in your situation.....Furthermore, the PN and date on the Hurst shifter unit can fill in your gaps I bet if it has the two bolt style.......People in the past have pulled them out of the clips while driving, scary indeed and they bush fixed them by putting bolts etc...
There is no mid production change to the "push" in style in this particular handle in 68/69....This has been researched by others and it is a known fact......There is one variation in these handles that most are unaware of that did happen in 69 and that relates to the hurst script cut into the handle.....The early version of this handle had a "crisp" script versus the later "smoother" script but they ALL were the "push" in style....
You didn't open a can of worms....this has been researched and confirmed......You just was incorrect in your first post, thats all...Just wanted to clarify that for the OP......Plus, I have some interest because it relates to my 69....
Just to help the OP sell his handle. This is the difference in the HURST lettering mentioned as I have both versions of this console shifter handle..
