Where do you guys have the negative battery cable attached to? This is a 70 Roadrunner 440-6 car.....thanks

Mine runs to an inlet manifold bolt. There is also a small but thick wire that runs off the back of the cylinder head to the firewall to earth the body shell.

this is where mine is......

The 70 B-Body negative battery cable has an extra link that runs from the backside of the battery cable head to the radiator support area. The 69 and earlier cars used the strap that ran from the back of the engine head over to the firewall.

The negative cable was also painted engine color almost entirely as it was on engine when painted at the factory. I don’t like the look as it isn’t a clean look, but still haven’t decided what to do on mine.

I had always thought the same and even did my last car that way. My 383 RR was not supposed to have that paint. Don't remember where I saw that but it is no longer a firm rule.

The picture in the article there is a star washer under bolt head.
Look at that picture again... there is no washer there, I just installed a new negative cable on mine today and the bracket is punched and looks like a star washer! Maybe it was to make similar dents on the bottom side to bite into the cable?? I don't know, but mine has no washer and there is no washer in that links picture of it either.

Is that picture a survivor? Those two shiny spots I magnified 300% and could say that a star washer could be there. Doesn't matter its only my opinion. The picture I commented on was this picture.

Yes.. that's the same picture I am talking about. There is NO washer there. Now whether that is correct or not I do not know, but all you are seeing is the serrations/stamping. No washer can leave that hard of a witness mark.

I enlarged the picture you posted. Those two shiny spots on right of bolt head look to me a socket rubbed the paint off the tips of a star washer, rest of picture to dirty to be sure.

I'm not questioning MY picture.. that is my car! I can guarantee you those marks were NOT made with a washer, they are factory stamped. That is just the paint missing out of the stamping/serration marks!

Sorry Fran, but you're obviously not reading what I'm typing. Do I have to go out and pull the spring return bracket back off my car and take another picture to show there is no washer and it's just stamped that way?? There is no washer on the Hotrod mag link picture either...

I won’t sleep until we get to the bottom of this.
