That is one gorgeous example of an original restoration on a VERY original car. I also enjoyed listening to the owner and the level of knowledge he has in relation to his car!

I love the look of the 69 Coronet R/T!
I was actually looking for a (in this order) 69, 68, 70 Coronet R/T or Super Bee when my search for my muscle car began.
I like the rear quarter panel scoops vs the stamped in detail, and I prefer the 68 R/T taillights to the 69.
While I was looking, a 70 440 Roadrunner came up for bid, and that's when I "asked permission" to bid on it. That one went way too high before it sold, but as my field of models and years began to expand and change, I really focused on the 70 Roadrunner, and 70 GTX to a lesser degree. I was still looking at 68, 69, and 70 Coronets too, but when I saw my 70 V-code Roadrunner, 4 speed, Dana 60, 440 6bbl in Lemon Twist and black with a black vinyl top I was IN LOVE! I didn't think I'd be able to buy it because they were asking $59k....
Everything fell into place though and I got the seller to go a lot lower on a phone negotiated price, and my best friend (who I hooked up with his 70 Roadrunner back in 1980) and I were off to Missouri with the car trailer in tow for a "turn and burn" marathon weekend to go get my baby! I found some problems when I got there that allowed me to negotiate a few hundred dollars more off the price.
Now I wouldn't have it any other way! Sure, I'd love it if it had a Gen 2 HEMI, but the 440 6bbl has quite the legacy and appeal in and of itself.
Sorry for the long post, but I really like the 69 Coronet R/T, and seeing it just brought back a lot of the emotions and enthusiasm of the hobby, and I wanted to share.

Was at a local small show here in Michigan couple weeks ago and had this 69 GTX back in next to me, what history it has as the owner showed me.
Car was featured in multiple 1969 articles of Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines he had in the trunk.
Made a 3,000 mile trip to California with the magazine crew in 1969.
Owner has had car since 1980 and is in true original condition, what an example of a highly optioned Hemi car and all it's documentation.
Like most meets here in Mi, not too many of these beautiful B bodies
around, and what a true gentleman and caretaker the owner is

It is a one of one for an A12......The top was actually an NOS that the owner was unbelievably lucky to get.....It would have been impossible to get one remade.
Mod tops were rare for a reason and only a select few optioned for them. You have to understand the rarity of not only it being an A12 but throw in the only one ordered with a mod top.....Makes it a one of one car....For the A12 guys this is considered the holy grail.....
Disclaimer, I am not a fan of mod tops for the obvious reasons..........I am a fan of rarity and a car that is rare and is restored perfectly to what it once was..

I think it would be weird to drive a muscle car back in the day with flowers in the top, I guess, guys old enough can tell us MO.

Think of the timeframe......it was the 70's everyone was experience wild and crazy things.....The Mod top was an option and someone made a choice back in 69 to order it that way.....I respect that current owner did the car the justice it deserved....

And Darrin did a heck of a nice restoration on it. Worthwhile to check it out if you get a chance. He is extremely knowledgeable on A12 cars and a super nice guy to boot.
