Hey Guys! I finished my 1965 Satellite restoration a couple years ago and things have gone smooth, until I started having trouble with my carb. Runs good and smooth, but just every now and then when I'm pulling out into traffic; it will just cut off. Then it is the trauma of oncoming traffic and trying not to get hit. I've rebuilt it twice and it gets no better or worse. When it is right..it's right, but I'm getting a little concerned when it cuts off without any rhyme or reason. I know I could upgrade to a modern carb, but I like the originality of my car and I would hate to start changing things to update. So, my question is does anyone have an old Stromberg 2 bbl carb that is not being used? If I start from scratch whatever problem I'm having might be left with old carb.
Well, thanks for listening and any help would be appreciated; either in another old carb or with some collective wisdom from all of you as to how to fix my existing problem...Thanks!

Perhaps you could be a little more definitive. What engine, 361, 383, 318? What transmission? Also, what carb number and model? The B block engine would use a Stromberg 1 1/2" WW and the 318 would use a 1 1/4" Stromberg WWC3. Those engines could also have used a Carter carb depending on application. Check and let us know..

Have you visually checked the accelerator pump discharge? I assume the stroke is adjusted to specs. Leather pump cup? I like to soak the leather cups in motor oil before installation too. I have the same issue with my 65 Coronet 318 (too lazy to check it out) although I haven't rebuilt it yet and the cup was deformed!

I'm sorry for the lack of details. The engine is 318 with a 727 transmission/console shift. So I guess that would make this Stromberg WWC3 1 1/4". That was the original carb on engine before restoration. Hope this helps.. Thanks again..

My friend the mechanic said the accelerator pump didn't seem to be moving, so then we rebuilt the carb (twice), but we still had problems, but it runs out perfect except for the occasional stall upon accelerating. No constant problem, just on rare times.

Give me a couple of days to research the info I have (an origional FSM) and hopefully I can come ip with a simple fix. 493Mike suggested looking at the accelerator pump plunger and discharge check valve and nozzles...a good place to begin. The Stromberg WWC3 carb is a simple design and is easy to underdtand how and why it works.
As tomorrow is the T-giving holiday, I'll try and get back to you by Friday.
