Hey guys. I just thought I'd throw this out there to see what you all think. Roger my body man, thought he would do a trial run to see what the burnt orange would look like on a body panel. He just picked up a small amount to give it a try.
At first I didn't really care for the color but man, it's certainly growing on me. The wife just loves it so burnt orange it is.
We took the valance outside today to see how she looked in the sun and it certainly comes to life in the sun! Here is a picture of it at his shop. He's going to sand it down again and respray when it's time to paint the entire car. Oh by the way it's a 70 Charger 500. Originally burnt orange.

Here's another picture in his office with the sun shining on it.

I love the Burnt Orange, I think it's one of the most eye catching colors out there.

Maybe not a real Hi Impact color of the 70's but it's one of my favorites.

One thing I don’t like about burnt orange cars is that 90% of them have orange interiors.
Not a fan of that color interior.

I hear you there Jerry. Like I said it's really starting to grow on me.

No I lucked out. White interior with buckets and console. Power windows to boot. I think white would work with any color. No??

Man! I had to change the title. What was I thinking??? Seriously I just reread it. I had to change that in a hurry! lol Glad I caught that!

FK5 is one of my favorite 70 colors. I painted my 70 Duster that hue and have no regrets whatsoever.

Could you post any details on the paint specs?
Was it custom mix?

thanks

I love FK5. It especially looks good on a 70 Charger. I do like the orange interior, but it will also look killer in white.

I Restored mine in the 80s, originality didn't really matter then, i was considering other colors but glad I kept it deep burnt orange fk5, it does grow on you.

Roger likes to use the Matrix system. He says it easy to use and goes down nicely. He's been using it for years. He's painted a couple of Cudas and a few Harleys with it. He swears by it. And it does look great. I believe it's part of the Sikkens family. No custom mix, just their version of FK5 base coat clear. He only put down 2 coats of clear on the valance since he'll be sanding it back down.
Anything specific you wanting to know MG? I'd be happy to ask.

I know when I first bought the car I was thinking of changing the color, but just recently decided to go with the original paint. I was going to paint it the Toyota color "Hot Lava" 2017 color. Which was pretty close to burnt orange but a shade brighter.

My car is 500 but I would still like to put the R/T stripe on it. Not sure of what color to put back there. Black or White??? Might try both and see which one looks better. Any suggestions?

Although I’m a pro industrial painter, I’m teaching myself how to paint a car. I’ve been using Matrix because that’s what they sold me and I love it. Goes on nice, dries super fast. As a oilfield painter used to laying it on thick I’m astonished at how thin the coat of Matrix is. Still learning, but I recommend it.

Another Mopar color that changes a lot based on your primer tint and the number of coats, like EV2. I'd use a darker primer to take some orange back out of it. It can be a beautiful color on a b-body.

This was my 1970 Sport Satellite with factory FK5 paint, white interior. For some reason women just love the color!!! You will not find many cars with the FK5 paint, especially in Ontario Canada at car shows.

I love the burnt orange color, it is one of my favorites besides a nice darker blue of course :D. The car is looking like a million bucks already! If the car is a Charger 500 and originally came in that color I would keep it because there were few of them made. Great work by Roger, hats off to him for that beautiful trial. :)

I will certainly tell him 66ChargerHI-PO. Yeah he's a great fella. He does anything I ask of him with no questions. Oh we discuss what we believe would be best before we proceed. I asked him last year when he was putting in a new truck extension if he would mind cutting out the drain plug and turning it around to match the originals. Agreed with me whole heartedly and did a supper job. I understand that I'm paying him to do all this work and the customer is always right(sometimes lol) but he always obliging. I know some aren't.
