Who has been put out of work and sent home ?

Pushing two months out of work here. Hundreds of resumes and applications sent.
Several want to talk "after this mess is over". I'm down to driving a couple hours
each way to talk to one owner at this point.
Every damn licensed contractor in this state has heard from me at this point, though.
If I walk away from 40 years, it won't be from leaving any stones unturned.

Some times that's what it takes is walking away.

Any chance of unemployment ins? It's what you'd normally collect plus $600 more for 39 weeks.

I'm already drawing the max in this state ($275/week).
The $600 everyone heard about as part of the CARES package - along with that $1200/$2400 thing -
so far has been a mirage. The folks at our state employment commission have no idea when or how
that will be implemented, telling me instead that they've received no instructions from the feds on it
to date.

I was working PT at a auto parts house delivering. Cut me back to two days last week. Told to stay home this week. Shops don't have the work, some have already closed.

In his youth, Adolf worked as a Parking Attendant

The older I get, the more my anxiety of being high up increases. In the 90s and 200Xs I climbed some tall ladders, 30 feet tall sometimes, but riding in the outside glass elevator of a 30 story building, I'd rather face the door.
In 2010, my wife and I rode this ride in Las Vegas, and at the top especially, where the weightless feeling is the strongest, and it's at the apogee, I was mortified.
THIS one, and I don't think it's the "scariest" one on the roof of the Stratosphere!

So I guess this job wouldn't be for you....

I do air duct & dryer vent cleaning. I had hoped, with everyones mind on health, and sitting at home, i'd be swamped. Hec, even around the holidays, dryer vents still clog up. I haven't had one call in days.
Had ours done last fall - if you've never had your dryer duct cleaned out, you're possibly waiting for a fire to happen! The young man that came out got a full 5 gallon bucket of lint etc., out and darn if the dryer isn't working much better now. If you're near Dayton, OH give this gentleman a call. I'm sure it's well worth the cost, it was for us.

Thank you. Very much appreciated !

Some of the best $$$ I ever spent around the house. Now I know why the appliance service/repair guy I use told me he never recommends running the dryer when you aren't home - fire risk!

Best of luck and I hope you are real busy again real soon.
