What's the deal with this? 73 400 SE/Rallye??

I've got your back nacho. .i will have two rallye cars with the v6r stripe and I'm going to see to it that someone makes them right for my cars. I am in the process of getting a red rallye bought with the reflective stripe like the one below. .i will not settle for incorrect stripes for mine!

400, do you have ideas of how someone can get it right... maybe a graphic design professional designing the stripe. I have no idea but I hope you are successful

I have a few ideas. .there are several companies around where I live so I'm going to see what they can come up with. .a place that does all the sheriff vehicle decals should be able to do it easy

I wonder how many people bought the incorrect stripes and didn't realize it till they parked next to an origional

yeap I know, but as you know, I got dissapointed with the other guy I tried. They even damaged the 3M vinyl I bought and didn't take responsability of it.

@Tim Ziegler you don't know how many threads I have started on dodgecharger.com about this deal. Just found ( and confirmed ) Phoenix Grahics began to offer these stripes back in 2007 ( as I mentioned earlier, on lates 2000s ) by a thread I began in there on that year. 400sforever and I have talked about on that board and I even began to get some samples and post them on that board too. But then the crisis in Venezuela made everything HARDER to proceed with ANYTHING... get the correct inks, vinyl, transfer paper... and lack of seriousness from the guy I was working on so I had to stop the project back in 2018.

I even BOUGHT the silkscreen to make them on the same way originally where made ( and not printed ), but didn't find anybody working that size of silkscreen jobs. Just T shirts, pens, jars... POP material in general.

Now as mentioned, there is a 73 Charger owner in Venezuela which also is Graphic designer and he WANTS to take the challenge to make it. Nothing better than a guy which can feel the same need than me to make this on the right track.

The pattern for the stripes made by the silkscreen technique it calls HALFTONES. Any designer software gets that tool included ( illustrator, photoshop ) but since the silkscreen technology is now used by small stuff AND not too many ppl actually uses that, not every designer is able to get the right track to get the halftone tool correctly done on the stripes. Most of the silkscreen jobs mix their colors getting the dots from small to bigger dots, while our stripes gets the color phasering with SAME DIAMETER dots, but more density ( more dots together )

WOW, you in Venezuela have my sympathy and concern. You saw 400's angle that studio's that make sherriff car graffics might have the ability. You have put a LOT of effort into this Nacho.

Just got my 2nd v6r rallye home today. .this is a pic of it sitting where it died years ago before I got it. .its a 340 pistol grip 4 speed car. .the stripe has severely faded thru the years

I also have a 73, 400, factory 4 speed car in progress. In the e bay link to this car the owner posted there were only 396 four speed cars made that year....do we know if that is a correct number... ....thanks....

I have no idea but probably as many 74 400 4 speeds eeh. I'd insure these cars for about a million bucks

I asked a guy that may have the numbers to verify so we will see. .not sure if 396 is right or not. .i do know that in 74 there were 115 400 4 speed cars produced

Ok, I'm doin a non numbers clone, but I'll do a good job. 74 with a 74 360, Ralley rear leafs and sway bar. 1/4 mile priority so no p/s, no p/brakes. 904, 8 1/4 with 391's. Headers with complete factory dual ex I bought off a 74 360 Rallye in 1975 when it was totalled. Mine is B5, black v. top, white bucket interior with auto on column. Rallye wheels

In 1973, 2811 340 4 BBL, Rallye Chargers were built, 2415 were automatics, 396 were 4 speeds. Those are hardtop numbers, it also says 394 coupes were built, but it don't break down between auto and 4 spds. Only 91 of the 394 coupes has the 340 Magnum package. 48 of those 91 were automatics. I decided not to put back the blacked out bulge hood decal when restoring our car. With the interior being all black and the stripe and halo top being black, I thought that adding the bulge blackout would be too much black. Oh well, to each their own.

Its beautiful Hank. You don't have the aluminum piece along the window and up the rear window as is so common. Mine has it but I'll get rid of it. The black out hood will look fine on yours is my opinion
