Newbie here, so be easy on me! I just bought my dad’s old 68 RoadRunner (440 6bbl) that he owned when I was younger. I’ve had it for about a month and a half now. My dad owned it back in 2003ish until about 2006. I started searching for the car about 3 months ago. Through the help of some good friends, I was able to easily locate it. The crazy thing is when I called the owner of the car a few months ago, he had just posted the car for sale about a week before. The timing gives me chills.

I was around 10 at the time my dad owned it. We took rides in it all the time, so it’s very sentimental to me. So many memories in it. I remember the day he sold it. I always dreamed about finding it again one day and buying it back. I’m still a bit shocked that it’s back home!

It was orangish/red when my dad owned it. It’s had a complete overhaul on its journey away from us! New paint, new interior, motor work; basically new from front to end. It has a few things left to do, but it’s almost done! It’s beautiful and sounds great!

My dad passed away back in 2009. I know he’s looking down and grinning from ear to ear about this.

He was the sheriff of our small town for 8 years. A few days after I bought it, I was in the trunk of the roadrunner going through parts boxes and envelopes that came with the car. Most of it was stickers and hood badges for the car. A few receipts and stuff like that. I mentioned to my girlfriend “how cool would it be to pull something out with my dads name on it”. 2 minutes later, I open an envelope that had my dads election card from 2004 when my dad was running for sheriff again. It made me so happy. You can’t put a price on something like that! Attached are a few pictures of the car and how it looked back in 2004.

Welcome from Alabama, to cool to find your dad's old car.

That's fantastic! So glad to read about this and happy for your good fortune.

Hey - what a fantastic story! Odds of finding your dad's car plus being able to get it back are pretty slim! Been searching for my departed cousin's '64 426 Polara he bought brandy new, at the request of his daughter, for a decade. In this case decades have passed, so not surprised it can't be found. In any case being your dad's car is super special. I had a cherished item of my now long departed dad's that was stolen from my truck when I had to take it in unexpectedly for repairs not remembering I had it in the truck to have it serviced before giving it as a gift to my nephew. Made me sick that there's no way to get it back. Great to hear how this turned out so perfect for ya. Lol, there's justice in this world now and again.
