In honor of Halloween- This movie ruined me from the horror genre

I was a pretty big horror buff before I saw this for the first time around 1986.

I liked all the usual suspects- Friday the 13th, Nightmare on elm, Halloween, etc, and lots of the more obscure ones.

This one, though.......

I can watch this one any time, but can't hardly sit through any of the others.

It literally took my desire away.

I find them all stupid, now.

This one's stupid as well, but it knows it's stupid, and works it to it's advantage.

I've never been a horror movie fan . Although in complete honesty ,I found the original the Exorcist troubling as a teenager . Most movies of this genre have plots that aren't even close to being believeable

I met Bruce Campbell a number of years ago, I was/am a huge fan of ED2. He was so incredibly cool, we talked about the filming process and the impact on so many. He was humble, appreciative, and being that we both lived in Royal Oak, MI we talked about hangouts and shared memories.

I've been a big fan of everything that Bruce Campbell and his best friend from
high school Sam Raimi have done together - ever since they first came out.

The first Evil Dead was mostly shot right down the road here near Morristown, TN
and was a seriously shoestring budget sort of thing, so when it did better than expected
(thanks in no small part to a glowing recommendation by Steven King!),they were given another shot at making it "better".
Wala - Evil Dead 2, complete with the beginnings of the tongue-in-cheek sense of humor Bruce would become famous for.

"Army of Darkness" (ED3) was a full-budget goof fest, complete with animated
hoardes and all manner of goofiness and is a must-see.
There's been a TV series just recently, there's a whole new movie franchise underway
starring new young folks, writers, directors (and produced by the original gange)....
40 years now, that whole thing has been successful on little money.

Bruce, Sam, Sam's Brother Ted and Rob Tapert are the nucleus of who made those
films and the behind-the-scenes stuff is hilarious, too.
When Sam went on to direct some of the biggest films of Hollywood later on, he
always had Bruce cameo in each too.

I think Im twisted due to all the horror movies my dad took me to as a kid when he would pick me up for the weekend.
Phantasm caused me to keep my bed up against a wall until I was about 13.
But I love most of them and often watch re-runs, FD13th sequeals got out of hand as did some of the Halloween sequels, the last one wasnt bad though.
Salems lot, Last House on the left, , Motel Hell, Amityville Horror, Tx Chainsaw, the Omen, Prophecy, Jaws, The Fog, Race with the Devil, Changeling, Beyond the Door, Prom Night were some of my favorites.
The ones that were supernatural related really got me more than the slasher types.
There was one that really scared rhe crap out of me and I cant remeber the name, maybe you can help. It was mid-late 70s i remeber the very last part ( vaguely) there was something to do with the pieces of a staff, I remeber this guy being in a canoe in the middlw of a flooded cemetary. I think he had to put the pieces together and at the end this thing created a kind of beam ( no not Raiders of the lost Ark) but something similar to defeat the monsters... Any ideas???

The new “Halloween Kills” movie made over $50 mil. this weekend. Impressive as it was released on line as well, and theatrical releases haven’t been drawing the big crowds they once did. It beat the new Bond movie as well

I watched Halloween Kills for free last night on Peacock. It's pretty good. It was nice seeing Anthony Michael Hall as a grown-up. When Halloween first came out We were late and had to sit in the front row. It was a pretty genre-defining film. The other thing I remember is all the black people shouting at the screen.

I dislike october. Nothing but complete garbage "horror" movies for a month.
November and december are worse.

I had a crush on Neve Campbell back in ‘95 when she was on Party of Five.

So I went to see Scream when it came out.

Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson really jump started the genre with that release. It was getting stale and predictable. Great horror movie that came out at... Christmas!

All the horror movies are now comedy for me as soon as you hear a long silence or a distorted violin, you know the buu!!!! Effect is coming, lost all the fun.

with some added plotline, humor, characters, some sort of "hook" to them.

Between that and "Mad Max".

All the way until "Titanic".

If I want to watch a horror movie, my idea of one would be Saving Private Ryan.
There's enough horror in real life for me.

I never enjoyed any of them as I just don't like being scared and frightened. Granted it is only play acting but some nut jobs will become that type of creep for what ever reason. Now days, I enjoy all the old classics as they now don't effect me as they did as a kid. So for me, I just avoid them all together...cr8crshr/Bill
