Automatic transmission
Factory Sunroof
Vinyl roof (either black or dark green - can't remember)
Rallye 15" wheels

Also had replaced the original fenders with a pair that was light green due to rust

You will get grief for this.

The correct Mopar term would be sure-grip! Best of luck with your search, that was a nice car back in the day
Thanks Guys - just a senior moment - couldn't think of sure-grip
Wish I didn't sell it - but that was in 1981 before the big restoration renaissance. I was young and stupid then.
Well I still have my 74 Cuda.

I saw that car or one just like it [1970, green, sunroof] in the early or mid 90's. At the time it was owned by a gentleman in Mount Airy, MD who still lives about 3 miles from me. He had it sitting in his front yard with a 'For Sale' sign on it and after hearing about it thru friends I stopped by to look at it one afternoon. I was in my mid 30's then, and couldn't verify it was a factory sunroof car so I passed on making him an offer. Someone else did buy it though and I haven't seen it in this area since. I always wondered what happened to it....

Good luck with your search!

I remember seeing a green Charger with a sunroof in Carlisle last year and I posted a picture of it and posted it here; I could of sworn it was the car you were looking for until I looked at the picture again and it was a '69 and it had a white top

If you get a chance do you think you could stop and ask him? I had lived in Patuxent River when I sold it and the guy I sold it to was from Waldorf / Brandywine area. I was told he resold it in the early 90s. The sunroof cars were very rare - I think something around 225 of which 112 were RTs. Would be really interesting.

I was at Carlisle last year too. Going again this year as it is supposed to be the 50 year anniversary celebration of the 70 Charger. Should be a good collection of them. There was one in the showcase room. Not mine. I only go up for one day.

May I suggest, stopping by the Charger clubs tent when you are there this year and asking them if they know anything about your car. Maybe someone will know something and maybe they will keep a lookout for it for you.

Happy Birthday by the way :bday::drinks::thumbsup::)

Good idea....you may also reach out to the 70 Charger registry to see if they have any cars matching your description that are registered with the site.

That would be who I'm talking about
Thanks guys. I checked Mopar clubs in Southern Md but none seem to be operational. I also have checked the Charger and Sunroof Car registries - no joy there either. Will hit the clubs at Carlisle. BTW all the records from Chrysler for that era went up in a fire. Going to try some of the restoration shops in Southern Md next. The other problem is that VIN serial numbers were not sequential.

My friend had a 70 Charger R/T SE sunroof car,and he was hit broadside by a van,the car hit the curb and rolled down an embankment. The roof was damaged but not destroyed, and the sunroof setup was salvaged and grafted into a Superbird! I have a 69 Charger R/T SE sunroof car. It needs a full restoration.

Your "official grief" has arrived:

That is so painful to read. Hope your friend was OK. Glad you were able to salvage the sunroof. Don't let yours go even if it needs a full resto. Not many made and probably only a few left.

If you pay property tax on cars, check for VIN on tax records town county or state.

The car landed on its roof windshield first. It was in the fall and cool outside,so the power windows were up. The battery wasn't secured and came disconnected when the car flipped,so they couldn't lower the windows. The A pillars buckled and pinched the vent windows so the doors wouldn't open. The filler cap was open and gas was pouring out the top of the rear quarter panel. Dave's brother Mike who was the passenger, said,I don't know where my cigarette went! No one wore seatbelts back then,so atleast they weren't hanging upside down like they would have been nowadays. This happened in 1981. The road was being repaved,so the curb was like 8 inches high, and when the 15x10 inch Cragar mags with the N 50 tires on the hit the tall curbing the car went over on it's roof and slid down the embankment windshield first. A stone wishing well stopped the car from crashing into the back of a house. Mike had to kick out one of the tinted side windows so they could get out of the car. The cigarette was never found, and the car didn't blow up. The van that hit them was unregistered, and uninsured, and the driver was driving on a suspended license so he couldn't get any insurance money for the car. The car was FY1 yellow with a tan top and interior,R/T SE loaded 440 automatic car. It was probably a one of one car in that unusual color combo. The previous owner had repainted the car 1969 Sunfire yellow and died the top black which went better with the tan interior. Atleast the roof was saved, and he had three other Chargers so we used all the parts from the car. If you ever see a Superbird with a sunroof, that's the roof,as no Superbirds had that option from the factory. My car is a total basket case, I bought it from a junkyard in the early nineties. I have most everything to build it though.
