Plymouth dusters ?

Ps.

I actually have given thoughts to pick up a clean Duster. And the 73.74s are cheaper and typically optioned better.

20k will buy you an extremely nice one .

I saw one on the side of the road you could have likely bought cheap today.

Personally, I like the 70 & 71's the best. Mine has a 408 stroker, 4-speed, and 3.23 gears. It's a blast to drive around town and purrs right along at 70 on the highway.
That would be my choice of combination also....sounds like a fun car.

One day I hope to own another A body. 71 Demon would be my 1st pick. I would also like a 75 New Yorker.

Over the years, I have owned several A bodies. I think the count is around 26 or 27. Dusters and Dart Sports....
76 Dart Sport 318
72 Duster 225
73 Duster 318, 360
74 Dart Sport 360
70 Duster 225
71 Duster 318
72 Duster 318
73 Dart Sport 225, 360
74 Duster 318
74 Duster 225, 360
74 Duster 360
75 Duster 225
74 Dart Sport 225
73 Dart Sport 340, 360
72 Duster 225, 360
A few were parts cars, most were builders. All were basically the same but there were several changes from 1972 to 1973.
They are solid cars. I'd rate them as # 3 of my Mopar favorites behind the 68-70 B bodies and 67-69 Darts.
Think of the time that they were new and what they were marketed against. Maverick. Nova and other GM clones. AMC Gremlin. When you look at the competition, you see how basic and spartan the others were. None of the competition handled as well or were as attractive in my opinion.

I currently have a 75 360 Duster, I really like the car. It has power disc brakes and power steering so, it's more like late model car to drive. It gives me more room than my 71 Challenger. I converted it to use the 73 bumpers so they are closer to the body and got rid of the rubber fillers due to the 5 mph bumpers that were on it. I do like the 70 style better but, nothing wrong with 73 and up cars.

OH! I’m also a B & E body owner but regularly get **** on verbally by A LOT of “OTHER” MoPar guys for the years of my cars. My ‘Cuda being a ‘73 and my B body being a ‘79 Magnum are often the point of huge disrespect from other supposed MoPar guys. I endure a lot of ding ding comments ranging from;

“Yours is not a REAL ‘Cuda. Because it’s in the crappy emissions year of low powered engine.” that also normally comes with “Sorry to hear you own a ‘73.”

I can understand not really being into a certain body style. Like the later year B Bodies. That’s OK. I get the comment, “It’s kind of cool.” As there not really digging the year and that’s fine. Other comments are closer to someone with a massive chip on there shoulder.

One guy over heard a conversation I was having when I mentioned a ‘73-‘74 Cuda, he stopped dead in his tracks and just blurts out, “What kind of asshole would by that **** year MoPar?” Yea… from a MoPar guy.

The arrogance is amazing. The Holier than thou mind set is amazing. They don’t give a crap ether. MoPar brotherhood my ***! It’s closer to an internal war. I get mucho respect from a flag saver from any brand (except the moronic crew.) on my cars.

Sorry to say, I don’t see or feel anything close to a MoPar brotherhood at all. Now a max house division is what I mostly see and feel and certainly receive.

I believe that “United we stand, divided we fall.”
And falling we are.

And then they wonder why when they go to the MoPar nationals or other meets the turn out is like rotted **** on a stick rotting away. I have more fun at general meets with all makes even with my rot box rides.
You know what bud. I’ve been a Mopar guy my whole life, I’ve owned 30. I like them all, I never gave a crap what anyone else thought, you shouldn’t either. There are a lot of people with opinions, you know what they say about opinions. Forget the part of everyone has one, think some people are one. Some people brag, flaunt or try to impress, for who, for what, for their own ego. The ones who cut down, same thing. You just have to consider the source and ask yourself. Why should I give a crap what this egotistical idiot thinks? I’ve had people on here ask me if I really have a car? What do I care if they believe I have a car? One guy even posted a picture of mine, and asked if it was my car. It was. I’ve never posted a picture of the car, my son in law found one on Pinterest. I don’t know where whoever got one on here. I have 2 pictures of my car. I see it everyday, what do I need pictures for? To pull them out and ask, do you want to see a picture of my car? You enjoy your rides, life’s too short to worry what somebody thinks about your car! Take care!

Hah ! You think that's bad ? I heard it when I had a few turbo Shelby Daytonas years ago. Of which two of them would blow the doors off those guys with the "real" Mopars. And get much better fuel economy, superior handling, and styling as well ! The late 70's B-bodies kept Chyco alive, since the F bodies were a disaster. The Cordoba was the best selling Chrysler model of the decade. The Magnum was a model that should've been introduced in 1975, instead of the charger-that-looks-like-a-cordoba car !

As time goes on, the cars that we once dismissed as uncool have begun to appeal to me. I was never a 4 door fan but I'd like a nice 68-70 Satellite or a H U G E Imperial from the 68-72 era.
I like the late B bodies...The Charger-Fury-Cordoba models too. They do resemble the same era Monte Carlos but don't hold that against them. What kept me away for years was the California emission limitations for 1976 and newer cars. You had to keep it stock to be able to register them and most were choked out, low compression slugs that couldn't click off a 15 second ET.
Once you wrap your head around the fact that most classics are not as fast as a new Challenger, you can embrace the great styling of the overlooked Mopars.
I have even taken notice of the 85-89 Fifth Avenue cars and they were 4000 lb cars with 150 horsepower!

I had a ton of dusters all years, the newer ones will have the big bolt circle for the wheels . I never paid more than $100 bucks for one running or not but that was a long time ago. Do it

I thought all of these were good looking cars. Those little Shelby’s would move. I liked the Mirada too, that cord style front end was sharp.

I picked up my 73 as an Ex drag car roller cheap. Now a 470 auto with 3.90s. Fast and fun. Got it out of Portland for $1800. Got some dents and a little rust in the rear quarters. Has frame tied in and came with a motor plate. These cars come with disc brakes and large bolt pattern wheels. View attachment 1291354
That 470 callout rocks!

I’m not personally hurt. I think the attitude sucks. I’m not such a “MoPar man” that’s in love with everything they put out and find some model cars hideous while other guys love’em. The thing is I don’t rag on them or the owner. I just say there not for me. If you ask me my opinion, I won’t drone on about the reasons, you may not like the opinion, but you asked. Otherwise I’ll just say I s not for me. Support and recognize your work

In a club I once belong to, one fella had the Shelby Charger with the MP turbo upgrade kit which IIRC, was a 300 hp kit. He took me for a spin in it down the Hwy. That was a blast. Very quick. I have not yet driven one. I think there styling is pretty good and at a minimum matched was was being done in the day.

I don’t remember seeing many F bodies in the late ‘70’s. But the Cordoba was darn nearly everywhere. I had a ‘79, 2 tone, brown and beige, beige interior. It has everything except a moon roof, 4bbl on the 360 and the “Tow Package” on the car. For sure a sweet ride. Road great on the road. That was one of the prompts that for me, got me in a Magnum. Basically the same car in a different wrapper.
Chrysler should have never made the Charger on the Cordoba base but I do remember times were very tuff and the old guard bosses were nervous. The Magnum should have been called the Charger, as it was slated to be so.

While I’m not in love or even like all the different gear body styles out there, if there not for me I’ll just say “Not for me” without ragging on the car or owner.

That looks EXACTLY like one I picked up in Alamogordo NM and drove back to Cincy. 340 4 spd. Went to a pep boys and bought my first set of Faulken tires for the long journey home. Exhaust was crap on it, so I was about deaf by the time I made it back. Wow, brings back memories.

back in 1973 i was driving a 68 road runner i was in my parents driveway when my mom pulled up in a brand new 73 318 duster she had just traded her 64 oldsmobile for it. she was very proud her first new car, i remember telling her she should have done it a year earlier the 73 front bothered me[to this day a mystery that i never understood WHY do all cars have to get uglier with each new model] she drove that car for ten years 100 thousand miles, i have fond memories of watching her hand wash and wax her car. after ten years it was starting to have rust spots pop here and there she went to trade it in on a new ford ltd II. the dealer offered her 500 trade in, i told her i would give her the 500 for the car. fast forward 39 years i never done anything with the car other than store it all because of that 73 frontend couldn't get by it. but you no what it kinda grew on me, mom has since passed and just this spring i have started working on the duster thing 73 pro stock build
Please update on the build

i have pulled the 318, stripped the interior out and have the car pretty much stripped of everthing but shell, the parts i have purchased are frame ties, ladder bars , coilovers 15x4 and 15x10 center lines , and in the process of narrowing a dana 60 out of a 69 charger. i'm still deciding on 340 or big block for power, has i said earlier that pro stock look was made for the duster's of this era [makes one forget all about them 73 grilles] fiberglass bumpers painted body color helps too. for paint scheme that red white and blue with the snorkel scoop of sox and martin is as good as it gets
