Hi FBBO,

I need your help.
You can buy new drip rail moulding w/ and w/o vinyl top. Is there really a difference in shape or size?

thank you

I'm curious to hear what the difference is since my car was a vinyl top car and isn't now.

So my father bought the charger back in 2003 without vinyl top and with the drip rail moulding. Now we want to install the vinyl and then we need other mouldings? :(

I should probably stay out of this since I don't own a Charger, but for Coronet (68), I was told different drip rail molding and different corner piece at the back of the rear side windows, and of course the piece that goes across and around the rear pillar. My understanding was it is slightly wider or different profile to help hide the edge of the vinyl.

Overall width of trim

Painted top = 0.5095 to 0.5135"
Vinyl top = 0.5355 to 0.5400"

Also noted by many that OE trim for vinyl tops has a green stripe inside the pieces.

It is a original vinyl top car but unfortunately we have the small mouldings.. I guess it will not fit with vinyl then…

100% agree with dads bee...... Factory vinyl top moldings wider than standard painted roof and almost all of them on the cars I've parted out have the bluish green dye on the inside!!!:)

I'm glad I looked up this thread. I'm currently doing body work on my 69 charger which was originally a vinyl top that no longer has one. I plan on eliminating the vinyl top. It appears I have the vinyl top moldings due to it sticking so far out in the corner behind the rear quarter window. I would like to get the correct trim for a non vinyl top. I'm having trouble confirming the two different sets online. Were you or does anyone have a website and part numbers please. The pictures and descriptions on the websites are hard to judge and lacking. Thank you!

Part numbers won't help unless buying nos pieces. You will need to see them or get a measurement..

Copy. I plan on powder coating all my trim black so its ok if they are not OEM. Just want to get the ones for no vinyl top and do not want to purchase the wrong ones online duplicating the ones I already have. Maybe I will try to IM Yennes to see if he still has his for no vinal top. Thanks
