Want to boost the HP on my 400 to maybe 300 to 350 without going into the bottom end, it only has 85000 on it
Perhaps the best thing to do to insure long term reliability for your anticipated coast to coast journey is:Will different heads and cam get me there. I plan on doing a coast to coast with it and don’t want anything to radical.
What year 400?Want to boost the HP on my 400 to maybe 300 to 350 without going into the bottom end, it only has 85000 on it
How about 4.10 gears......just right for a cross country road trip......???Get rid of the 2.76 gears in the rear end. They will kill the torque on the little big block you have.
But is he going to get 300-350 with just that ?You do not need new heads. How much do you want to spend?????
Best bang for the buck for a modest performance increase that you will feel is a new cam.
Something like an Isky 264 Mega. You have to be careful with low compression engines, over enthusiasm can turn them into dogs......real quick.
Have your old lifters re-faced to use with the new cam.....unless you want to risk wiping the new cam.
I wish 2.76, it has 2.43’s LOLGet rid of the 2.76 gears in the rear end. They will kill the torque on the little big block you have.
I have a 9 1/4 Shure Grip with 3.55’s for it, came out of a MagnumI wish 2.76, it has 2.43’s LOL

Pretty low compression and the pistons are down in the holes. It’s a 77
Those need to go first thing, immediately. Get a 2.9 or 3.2 and you will not believe how much different the car is with the same engine.I wish 2.76, it has 2.43’s LOL
Had gears like that in my LeBaron.. you could pull first gear to 60 mph. Stock 360I wish 2.76, it has 2.43’s LOL
