Start circuit question

The 833 does not have a Neutral safety switch, back-up light switch only. The described/pictured wiring is the back-up switch wiring, nothing to do with the starter relay. As previously mentioned and diagramed, the unused terminal on the relay goes to the clutch pedal switch (at the clutch pedal) on manual transmissions, NSS on automatic transmissions only. You said you are not using it, that terminal on the starter relay needs to be grounded to function as intended. Review previous posts.
Thanks 72...I'm on it!

That bare terminal needs to be grounded for the starter relay to function, on an automatic transmission car that would go to the neutral safety switch.
That's what I'm reading too. I never knew that but the original harness is gone and this is a new M&H. ...not to mention the car has been apart for over 20 years. I see those clutch switches are an arm and a leg, so no, I'm not using one! (That's if you can find one)

You can run a jumper from the terminal to the relay mounting screw or get a manual transmission starter relay which grounds through the case. It will start in gear so be advised…

Thanks Black Sheep, Fortunately my daily drivers have been clutch cars for the last 20 years. Yep...always in neutral even if I push the clutch in which seems to be the factory norm these days. It's good to know after all the replacement wiring for the whole car, I had one wire .....unaccounted for!

THANKS to everyone that offered valuable input. What a great website!!!
