Yet another fuel gauge one... what's wrong?

Right, I'll try to cover ad much as I can: Tested fuel gauge straight to negative, it works fine going all the way up. There is a dedicated ground from chassi to fuel sender unit to make sure it has good ground. Sender if giving me the right range, 10 (or so) on full, 75 (well, 77) on...

    LIFTER assembly question

Hi all, I thought my engine had a tapping sound and decided to give a go on the lifters. I removed all them, opened, cleaned, reassembled and submerged in oil and force it up and down to load it. Put it back and sounded louder. Improved by the time I was driving but I don't think it made any...

    Long cranking time to start

Sorry it took me so long but It was a mixture of bad weather, other commitments, etc. Today I had the pleasure to try it after replacing ballast and adjusting choke plate. Here's the result:

    Long cranking time to start

Ok, I measured and swapped the "looks new" ballast for an old one I had and it seems that the issue is solved. I'll try tomorrow or Saturday with the car dead cold and I'll post the result! thank you all so far.

    Long cranking time to start

Just did that. We are going somewhere! Videos below. MASSIVE difference! thanks, I'll definitely readjust the choke blade. You can see in the first video the difference and if I had a 3rd hand to hold the choke open car would have started for sure. So I paused and held it open and it fired no...

    Long cranking time to start

And I remember I was playing with the distributor one, just rotating it while trying to start and made no difference. Yes, the 4 squirts were just to show there was enough fuel in the bowl, i usually don't do that. I'll check the spring.

Can always double check. Don't remember how advanced it was, what's the best timing here?

I did, yes, 4 spark testers, seemed all good. Would wrong spark plugs be a possibility?

    Long cranking time to start

As promised, but this time didn't even start. It usually starts at the end of the second attempt as mentioned before. This time I put more fuel than I usually do so maybe I flooded it a bit, who knows... Car was dead cold, open the hood, removed air filter and was holding the choke open when...

What are you talking about? I'm comparing the 440 with the 318, bith same age. And like I said the result seems to be better that way but pressing the pedal before any attempt will give me the same or worst result.
