When I assembled the motor I bought a new billet aluminum rear main seal cap, dipstick tube, dipstick and Milodon 7 quart pan for use with exterior oil lines, don't remember if the dipstick was a Mr. Gasket or 440 Source product. I had been keeping the oil level at the full mark on the dip stick...
I've had it at the track once since installing the 512, I've been fighting a rear main seal leak that I finally solved this past fall. Since I didn't have a cage in the car I was limited to running 11.50 or slower. I launched without use of the transbrake and shifted at 5000. I ran it to...
I watched a few of the Driver Interviews with Bobby Fazio videos he posts on YouTube from the staging lanes and pits at NHRA National events and was surprised by the RPM's some of these guys are turning with their B & RB Mopar wedges. Anywhere from 7800 to 8400 rpm through the traps. As far as...
I believe you just need to bleed the highest bleeder. They build the calipers with bleeders on both ends to work on more custom applications where the caliper might be installed forward or behind the axle or spindle.
I'm geographically probably the luckiest guy here, I live 6 miles from a large track that the community supports here in Minnesota. Up until a few years ago I was still driving my car to the track with open headers on Wednesday night racing.
If you roll the inner wheel well lip in you can fit 275-60-15 on 15x8 4.5 backspace. They can fit well on some 66-67 B bodies and might be tight on others. My car's right rear wheel well is at least a 1/2 inch tighter then the left side. This is a old photo, I now have a narrowed Dana and...
I have a big Howards solid flat tappet cam in my 512 in my 66, I also have a 500 with a Howards solid roller. As mentioned above, break the motor in on single valve springs and before break in do all your homework to get the motor to fire up as soon as possible on first start up.
I finally solved a rear main seal leak in my 512 after close to 1 years of replacing seals and main seal caps. I found that with my Milodon 7 quart pan if I went by my aftermarket dip stick I had close to a quart too much oil in the pan. After changing oil I measured close to 8 quarts drained...
I have a similar 512 with 270’s, 11.5 to one, 1.6 rockers, 4200 stall converter and 4.10 rear gear. I run a Indy single plane 4500 base with max wedge runners and a ProSystem 1100 cfm Dominator. Drive it on the street in the warm months. No real issues driving my set up on the street.
