hi im looking to replace my gauge cluster on my 68 runner i found tha some gauges have writing on the glass that say LIGHTS-PANEL and on the otherside WASHER-WIPER the one on my car doesnt have the writing can someone explain?
thanks
Good question, I never noticed one with those markings. I'll be interested in seeing some more replies on this and I'll take another look at the ones that I have.
someone said that They put the writing on the plastic to make it
easyer to see at night.
So you dont have to fumble around on the
switch panel when it's dark.
To do it correctly you need the specific rallye cluster dash frame as well. You can butcher up the existing non rallye dash frame to make it work but you will still need a rallye dash wiring harness as well.
I have seen this too and I always thought it was a year or car model thing. My 68 RR doesn't have the writing. I wonder if it's a Dodge vs. Plymouth thing. Didn't some Coronets come with the same sweep speedo dash?
My 68' Coronet has the writing, my 69' Roadrunner does not. The Roadrunner has a chrome plastic bezel around the gauge cluster, my Dodge doesn't. By looking, my best guess would be that plastic bezel would cover up a majority of that writing if installed on the Coronet.
