I'm looking at a 413/727 combo.1975 with 53k on it . What does a person need to put engine in a car? Not familiar with these engines.

Check the numbers on the block i think 73 was the last year the 413 was used in the motorhomes and trucks. That being said I picked up a 72 413 out of a motorhome, the heads will need to be changed the ones on there have a different bolt pattern on the exhaust side the car manifolds will not bolt up and the truck manifolds will not fit a car body. The water pump is the high mount truck unit that bolts to the heads junk that and get a car front cover and water pump. The pistons are dished with a listed compression of 7.5 a new set of flat top pistons would be a good idea. The transmission will need the tail shaft and housing change out. All in all unless your getting this real cheap its hardly worth the effort.

IF it is in fact an industrial 413,

Don't waste your time, just wait and get a decent 440...for the amount of time and money spent converting everything, heads, cam, etc. in the end all you'll have is a 413 with really low compression.
if you decided to rebuild it you'd have a hard time getting decent pistons..and they wouldn't be cheap.

Thanks guys saved me wasting time and money.

As far as I can remember, no motor home 440's came with the high mount water pump setup and the exhaust bolt holes are the same as any other 440....

That's what I thought too.

X2 on not messing with the 413. Not that it's a bad engine, just impractical to build compared to a 440.
