I have all stock suspension on my charger I just build, all new parts ofcourse
except for discbrakes and I have no problems but everywhere I read all negative things about it. You should upgrade everything for 1000 of $$$,
what will get better when all you do is occasional cruising?
How could people have been driving our cars 40 years ago without killing themselves every day if it's that bad?

For the most part nothing is wrong with stock as long as the geomentry is correct and its all in good order. I cleaned up my cross member, welded up the seams and added plates to the LCA, added a beefier sway bar and some performance shocks.

I like tubular UCAs and adjustable strut rods to get more caster in the car, I will be adding these in a couple months

This is all low buck stuff, I think the big dollar stuff like tubular k-members and such are for the racers

Exactly!! See video -

You can substitute most any sports equipment or hobby item for "fly rod" and it still makes perfect sense.

Good video Meep and very true. There really is nothing wrong with stock if your just building an occasional cruiser and not planning on taking advantage of improved handling and steering response.

Having owned several brand G and one or two brand F cars, I can say 100% that torsion bar/leaf spring mopars of the 60s and 70's do in fact handle WAY BETTER than the other two of the same time period, until struts kind of leveled the field.

The reason I brought it up was because my new project, -70 Hemi challenger
convertible tribute, needs all of these parts we are discussing.
I was thinking MP leafsprings and T-bars, better shocks and front/rear swaybars. For flex I guess subframeconnectors are a must.
Is Hotchkis the brand for the swaybars or are there alternatives?

There is nothing wrong with stock...Me I just did mild upgrades...Front sway bar, shocks and a good set of bfg,s will make it handle alot better...I used the edelbrock shocks and they made a world of difference...Hotshkis is a good choice also..Thats on my list along with cal-tracs traction system..

Forgot to mention that my Charger has QA1 shocks all around, don't know
if that makes a difference and that's a part of me liking stock suspension.

Pretty much what everyone says here; it all depends on what you will do with the car. Simple bolt ons like a sway bar or two and shorter sidewall tires will do a lot but not enough if you want to pile it into a bank turn at 200 MPH. For my 69 RR I will use HEMI spec T bars and maybe a larger than stock sway bar and good shocks. Bushings are MOOG replacements.

LOL....My god Meep.......That was almost as bad as listening to Tiny Tim.

I see your point though..

You must have been exposed to that Tiny Tim link I posted a while back. Scarred for life!! Haha!

Yes indeed, and I forgot to congratulate you on quite possibly the worst (but hilarious) music I have ever heard. It was on my ipod within minutes..LOL

Ahhhh, spread the love huh?? Good for you!! Glad I can be of assistance.

Funny thing is I heard him do an interview promoting that album when it came out and he said it was a serious effort. They played a song on the radio and it stopped me in my tracks. like you I just had to get it because I knew it would come in handy one day.

My God! That was 7 min and .02 seconds of my life I can never have back!!! But I get the point.

I couldn't make it all the way through the video.

As far as stock, there's nothing wrong with them if they're up to par. Both my stockers have their original 11 inch drums. One power and one not. I like the feel of the non-power better but be prepared to jump on the pedal with both feet in an emergency!

The biggest thing is to change your frame of mind when getting behind the wheel. Don't drive like you would your normal driver because they will not stop as quick. I leave an extra car length or two between me and the car I'm following, especially in town. I've completely gone through my braking system and know it's all good but it will lockup the brakes in an emergency unlike my daily driver with ABS.

One thing I'm most worried about is idiots behind me that aren't used to cars w/o the high third brake light! Wish there was an easy to attach and remove LED light I could put in. Even something I could attach to the mirror in my convertible would help.
