Was there a specific Mopar brand or years that the motors came turquoise blue from the factory? Seems most everyone is orange under the hood and wasn't sure if it's just preference or correct. Thanks anyone.

IIRC, 68 and prior they were turquoise. in 69 is when they changed to orange. :tongue8:

Someone got one of Govier's books? I heard he says 1969 was the last year for turqoise on 440's.

i dont have time to search for it right now but i know somewhere on this site someone had all the color options for the different years you just need to look

Its a sticky on the top of the 1966 to 1970 forum category. It has a title "Engine paint"

But I forewarn you its not as clear-cut as you may think.

Personally, I have a 69 that i am dropping in a 440. I am going to paint it turqouise since Hemi orange is like a-holes, eveyone has got one.

Motor paint color

You have the paint color for a 64 lightweight Hemi car. I have some old pictures of my dads car and the motor and intake look like they are not painted . (Black & White photo's)

Any help would be appreciated!!

My '71 Charger has a 318 and it's blue of some sort. Then again there's 40 years of crud on it that I haven't washed off yet.

Hmm, wonder what the criteria was for "high performance" on the 1966 383.

The pdf says orange.

My unmolested G code 383-4 is turquoise.
