i hope the pics come out if not i will figure it out but wanted to post pics of my project 1972 charger with 383 and tf 727
 
and one more pic for now since im back in afghanistan for a few more months i can only look at all the stuff i want to do and build it about a million times in my head but at least i will have a plan if not the $$$ for all of them

also on a side note probably should post else where but her it is anyways. when i picked up the car from the guy i bought it from the first thing i asked him was what all he had done to it? his reply was (not much I pretty much just drove it). one step back for a sec i purchased the car sight unseen except for two cell phone cam pics while i was in afghanistan from a guy that worked at the same place as my mom. anyways i am looking over the car and the guy walks off behind the house. when he comes back he is lugging a big box and puts it down and tells me he has a few spare parts that go with the car (not mentioned at all when i agreed to pay the 4k for it long story short i have two pretty good size boxws of parts to go through as well as a spare rear seat, complete set of galss in great shape no scratches just for the doors and quarters and a spare 727 core that he had replaced a year or so ago. so when i went to open the trunk and put the boxes in i find another set of hidden light covers and the trim pieces. i think i might have gotten lucky and will post up for sell anything that might be usefull to someone on here.
 
From one Veteran to another, come home safe and continue the work on the Charger
 
thanks for all the messages and without saying to much i will be home next month driving and working on the charger as well as my 2007 quad cab 4x4 diesel which gets what ever money i dont spend on the charger lol
 
and once again thank you all for the support and well wishes to all that have served you will understand when i say. made it back and had the best day ever when everysingle one of my guys were home and off the plane i can say 5 tours and lots of scrapes bumps bruises and way to many close calls once again all made it home
 
(and an update on the charger) so have been working for about a week minus a quick 3 days in vegas that i only remember 1.5 of lol. have torn down the entire top and front of engine inorder to replace all gaskets timing gear set and water pump and the starter (headers in the way so best time to do it it was going out anyways) i will post pics when done and before i get the dam you spray bombed the engine bay it was that way when i bought it. once its up and running again will move inside for a few days and gut the interior and start to work in there.
 
glad to have you back(hopefully for awhile).get some pics up when you can.
 
ok new up date (i know pics) but as it is closing in on midnight again they will have to wait till sometime this week! well finished up on replacing every gasket on the engine and i mean every single one. which in the long run will be a waste of time and money to some but all is good and fired up on the first turn of the key so after 14 and a half years as a mechanic in the army i am not totaly ruined on how to turn a wrench. and i have to say for my first time working on a mopar i think all went ok. just need to fine tune the carb and get timing spot on. only issue so far is a hesitation when i hit the gas and a backfire at low idle?? any suggestionsand i promis pics this week.
 
Thanks for your service man, I recently got back myself and started a '72 charger of my own (small block though, wanted to get fuel economy in the double digits haha) project looks sweet, once you gut the interior I'd love to see some pictures. Iv got a fair amount done, but the interior is my next project and I wouldn't mind knowing what's a pain and so on before I get into it. Thanks again.
 
updates

i owed you guys some pics and here they are!! like i said got her running pretty good just working out minor bugs. and after that stripped the interior out to see how the sheet metal was under the carpet and was very happy as you can see. now onto the body work and oredering new seats and carpet and re-dying the plastics so they will look better.

73 owner and restoring!

well first off my name is Scott also and am in the Army. Hooah to you and welcome home. Been over 4 times myself outta Georgia and Washington. Well I bought my 73 from another soldier, got home and started the disassembly process. Going well except the cost of parts but I guess that s the fun part. saving pennies to buy the next part. makes it all the more valuable to us when it finally gets finished. I wish you the best on it and from time to time I will try to post my own pics as I go along with the rebuild.:lurk:
 
good luck to you to and from one soldier to another i completly understand with saving pennies for the next part and as i am going to be in school for the next two months i dont get to work on mine for awhile. also if you were thinking of changing to the 71-72 flip up lights i could send you a set when i get out of school. to help get you started.
 
Sounds great. I have been thinking about doing that. It looks great like that. I am not crazy about the standard headlight setup. Wish they had not discontinued the option for 73.
