With all the different motor oil out there and no zinc. What are you guys useing for oil with highest zinc content?Or what brand of supplement are you adding?

Have great luck with this stuff....

I talked with a Rep and engineer from amsoil.......No additives needed. Kinda pricey, but you get what you pay for. Plus you will be supporting your local economy...amsoil is based right out of WI. Run it in all my sleds as well (obviously amsoil-not this type of oil) I pick it up at Fleet Farm

They say change out every 15,000 miles or one year......

ZDD+ Cheaper than the oils $8.50 per bottle, good for 6qt change.Zalt is atleast $4.17 a qt.

I'm running SWEPCO in my older stuff and I even mix in a quart with the regular oil in my 02 Durango, especially now that it has 158 K miles on it. Their gear oil is very highly regarded in the Porsche racing community.

I've heard that shell rotella has zink. Look into it for sure. I used it to break in my cam. Also maybe Kendal. And comp cams has a oil.

I absolutely LOVE Lubriplate Oils. Fiske Brother's refineries in Newark NJ, and Toledo Ohio. The super GPO motor oil has >1100 ppm Zinc, >900 ppm Ph.. Recomended for flat tappet engines. http://www.lubriplate.com/webstore/default.aspx tors. Its a little hard to find though. Its avail.in straight weights and 10-30 and 15-40.

I've got ZDDP plus additive for adding to modern oils, and I've got some cases of GPO for straight use. either is acceptable; the I prefer the Lubriplate.

My fathers shop was a distributor for 50 yrs. We took the valve covers off his V6 Chevy Celebrity wagon at ~ 300,000 miles. Looked like brand new inside, engine ran great. That convinced me.

Any of the chain parts stores sell the ZDDP additive?

I have been using Joe Gibbs in my race engine and no complaints so far.

An outfit by the name of Micro Armor had a booth at the Detroit Autorama that I stopped and got some info from. They claim better engine protection then zinc additives. Check out there website and tell me what you all think.

Just read the STP bottle tonight while at the store. It says it has more anti wear agents and contains higher amounts of ZDDP and another additive " dont remember the second" than other oil additives.
It sounds as if they re-formulated STP to contain the good stuff these days. Maybe this is the latest ZDDP additive for our oils?
I think the "Rotella 1" still has it in there too because there other blends state they are for over the road emission controlled vehicles.
I think I'll try the Rotella 1 with new STP added for insurance in my new build.

Oil

I have been using Shell Rotella 15W-40 in everything I own for many years. I even run it in my 90 Civic which consistently gets 35+ mpg. Shell has reduced the zinc in Rotella too. I spoke with Shell Rotella Tech (800-237-8645) and they swear up and down Rotella 15W-40 is fine for my old Mopar, even with flat tappets and high performance valve spring loads.

get the STP in the RED BOTTLE.not the blue bottle. the RED bottle has twice as much zinc. its for 4 cylinder cars.

Rotella T has lowered there zinc content. They cut it bck when they redeigned their new bottle and jug. Its not what it use to be. you'll need to add a bottle of stp or EOS Supplement from GM.

I use Brad Penn. I used to use Rotella but they did indeed lower the zinc.
