I have been checking out this site for a while now. I decided to join so I can network with other Mopar Believers. First off... I have a build going on right now. The ride is a 1969 CORONET 500 RAGTOP. 440 5 speed with a 410 S 60.
This project is moving fast right now. I bought the car in 1985 for 300 dollars from my friends girlfriends dad. The dad bought the car from his father inlaw as an impounded tow. It had minor sheet metal issues. The dad began fixing up the car for his daughter to drive. It just so happens, she had her heart set on her daddys Corvette... Thank God for Chevys... nottt. I was very young and didn't have the cash to restore it correctly, so I drove it around for a while and parked it. Knowing this was a super sweet and rare ride, I wanted to save up and do a flip & strip.. nut & bolt restomod pro touring beast. Well... after 25 years... it will live again.. this time as I would have designed it from the factory. Anyway... I am estatic. The short story of this car is... It was bought new in Grants Pass Oregon by a Oregon Institute of Technology Professor. He Had a factory chrome trailer hitch installed on it and in the off season he toured the USA with a tent trailer. The car had 191000 miles on it when I got it. The tags on the origional License plate showed 1975. Unreal !!! This guy drove the poo out of this car in 6 years. That makes me the 2nd owner. This is a high desert car and when I stripped it.. I was not too suprised that it was 95% rust free. I had A&M Deluxe Customs from Corneilius Oregon do some sheet metal work on it. You can see it on the Web @ A&M Deluxe Customs in the Gallery as it went through the process. The chassis is set up for high speed cornering with a combination of the best components I could find. Firmfeel... Hotchkiss... Magnum Force drop spindles ..Willwood.. XV motor sports....US Car Tool and sitting on 18 and 17 inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with 12" in the back and 9 " in the front. It should be on the road by June 2011. The Color>>> Y2 Yellow and Matte Black 2 Tone. You wont miss this car on the road..... Anyway.... I know this is a long winded intro... I BLEED MOPAR MUSCLE.......

Welcome Dyno Dave - sounds like a great car!

BigBlkWp275 welcome to FBBO forum. 69 Corenet 500 ragtop sound like fun to me, no wonder the original owner drove the poo out of it. How did the Magnum Force drop spindles work out for you? I have been contiplaiting that myself. I have a 68 RR highly modified resto-rod kind of car but looks stock on the exterior except 6bbl hood, rims & tires, That brings me to my next "?" what was the back spacing on the 18x12" rear wheels? Good luck with your project.

welcome, glad you had the insight to keep the car all these years.

Photo uploaded fine...

I am still in the fabrication fittment stage. I will be mounting up the spindles later... I like them though, they are heavy duty as hell. I have the Willwood 12" dyna lite brakes that are made special for the Magnum force drop spindel... those suckers are spendy. The back spacing on the rear wheels measure out to 5 ". I massaged the outer wheel house side to accomodate a 295 or 315 45 18. The car will be lowered to fit the wheel up into the opening for that pro street look and center of gravity.

I did a lot of research on how to build my suspension to perform the best it can before I started buying and fabricating. I live 15 minutes from FIRMFEEL and spent some time with The owner Dick Ross discussing re engineering with modern parts. I ended up with Firm feel stage 3 power steering, 11/16 tie rods, 1.06 torsion bars, adjustable strut rods with poly bushings, reworked and plated LCA, tubular upper control arms, I gusseted and welded up the k frame per Firmfeels specs and then some. US CAR TOOL lazer cut sub frame connectors and drive line loop. Willwood 12.19 slotted and drilled all the way around, 7/8 Willwood manual master cyl. Hotchkiss 1.25 front sway bar, 1 " rear, Hotchkiss 2" drop symetrical rearsprings with their nice rear shackels and I fabbed up some front mount backing plates. Strange S 60 with a 410 Trutrac. To keep things tight up front I boxed in the front of the frame with XV Motor Sports lower radiator support, outer fender support firewall to shock tower tubes and an inner fender support shock tower to fire wall triangulation brace. To keep the ride quality nice I ordered up some custom valved Billstiens. I elected not to use the fast ratio pitman arm so I can run a set of TTI Headers. I have a 9.5 to1 440 that is built for the street. It dynoed at 440 HP @ 5500 and 480 Tq @ 4300. Anyway... dont mean to write a book here.... just excited to get it going and enjoy it. By the way... I am looking to purchase an AED 850 ho for it... Do you have any experience with AED carbs? I hear nothing but good things about them.
