Hey can anyone tell me what are the best 17 inch size tires and wheels/ what backspace to use on a 1968 coronet. I want to put the widest size tires on the back without modifying my car to remind anyone who is behind me what kind of force a mopar is to be reckoned with. Pictures of your cars would be great. Thanks rustymetal

Not sure if this helps but my 70 satellite should be basically the same. If you want to do the math ive got 295-50-15. Which is about 26.6 tall with a width of 11.6 (which is supposed to be the widest part of sidewalls-not tread) My wheels are 15x8 with zero offset (if i remember correctly). I have at least a half inch clearance all around including suspension and body. I know alot of guys run a 275-60-15 as well. If you want to do the math to figure those out. You can use these numbers to compare to tires for a 17inch wheel

I looked into this for my '68 Satelllite. I currently have 8" wide wheels with 275/60/15 in the rear. I want to go up to a 9" wheel, but the backspace for the Centerline Convo Pros I want in that wheel width is 6.5". I'm not sure if that will fit. I know the 5" backspace 8.5" wheel will fit, but does anyone know about a 9" with 6.5" bs?

The widest I've heard of for tires on these b-bodies without doing a mini-tub is 295. I've seen those usually on a 10" wheel and they just barely fit. Not sure about backspacing.

i have a 10.5 " with 5.5 offset made by ct custom wheel, they are centerlines,
i dont know if they are still in buisness, had em done 18 years ago

@rustymetal...Have you found the wheels you are looking for? We are restoring my dad's 69 Coronet, and I would like to move to 17s as well, so I would love to hear what you decided.

Here are a couple pictures I’ve found online of super bees running 17” Wheels. Looking into putting some American racing Vn501s in 17”x8” rear and 17”x7” fronts on my 69 superbee. Wondering if anyone else has any pics 17” Wheels on their B bodies for reference? Leaning towards nitto nt450 275 50 17 tires in the rear and Nitto nt450 225 50 17 for fronts. Does anyone have any expierience with these tires?
