I'm trying to put together a 66 charger that my wife bought. The question of the day would be, how much gap should be between the front fenders and the cowl? Thanks in advance,Mike
As close as possible but without, of course, interfearance from other panels when you open them up, hood and doors. Once that is achieved, line it up with the hood and such.
Balance out the sides as best as possible without giving yourself a headahce.
Gaps should consistent throughout the vehicle. The first panel aligned (front end) should be your front door to 1/4 panel. Body lines will dictate rocker to bottom of door gap here, then duplicate the door to 1/4, fender to door, hood to cowl, fender to hood and front door. A tool that I have used over the years for this operation has been a fibre stick that glass technician use for perfect gap spacing. using two of these inconjunction with each other works great. IE: gap between fender and door, use the sticks at the top and bottom, tighten your fasteners, move to the next gap.
have fun...its an art to get your gaps good!
