I have a flat tappet solid. I am running Amsoil Dominator 10w-30 Why is this a no no? They even say "Ideal for street rods, muscle cars and other vehicles running a flat tappet cam."

Im running joe gibb synthetic in my solid lifter flat tappet 408 stroker. Amsol synthetic in the tranny and rearend.

You need to have oil with phosphorous zink oxide if you have FLAT TAPPET CAMSHAFT regardless of synthetic or not. It keeps the hard face surface from going away & wearing the cam out really quickly.

VR1 racing synthetic from valvoline has zinc and phosphorous added for this reason.

Am running all Lucas Oil in my racer, 20/50 synthetic, semi synthetic auto trans fluid and 75/90 sythetic diff oil. Nothing but the best! Plus all Lucas mineral base stocks are from US oil fields and all synthetic base stocks are from Canada. Nothing shipped in from the middle east or South America!

Used to run Royal Purple, but we have all switched to VR1. Nothing wrong with the RP stuff, just a sponsorship decision. IMO both are good.
