Today I will be purchasing a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere. It will be our first B Body in the yard. We have three A Bodies currently. I am excited about have a different body of car in th driveway. Also can't wait until I can drive it. For those of you that know me and 64dart170 from the A Body site know that it will up and running in no time. I am posting some of the first pics of the car. Look for more to come as we begin to work on her. First I got to come up with a name for her. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Nice. Lots of work, but so much potential. I'll be looking forward to following this along.

Looks like a beauty to be for sure! Welcome to the Forum...

Congrats on the car abb! I'm sure you'll come up with a great name for her!

Looks like a great project, what is your plan for it, a faithfull resto, resto mod or a good old daily driver type of car?

It will be a faithfull resto, good old daily driver, and a show car. Up until a few months ago we used nothing but our Darts as our daily drivers and show cars. But recently we retired the two Darts for only car shows. I am have been waiting patiently for another vintage car to drive as my daily driver. Can't wait to get behing the wheel.

Looks like a good project...Good luck on your resto and post some pic's along the way.

66 belvedere 2 station wagon

I just bought a really clean 66 belvedere II wagon, No rust slant 6 with air and no other power options other than the rear tailgate window. Its a 3 speed on the column. I am ready to remove the motor and tranny and found a 66 chrysler newport that was smashed in the rear but has a great running 383 2 barrel with low miles and a 727 auto. My question is what 4 speed tranny do I need to look for to bolt up to my chrysler 383 in a 66 belvedere so that it bolts up properly. I will be honest i really dont know much about transmissions and am more of a body man but really want to tackle this myself but need to know what to look for as far as which one for this car and what bellhousing and so on. I can be patient on getting all the parts for the swap together and am going to be waiting on this to move forward as I already ordered the 4 speed hump to weld in and located a 66 console steering column. Other than the motor and tranny changes I am keeping this car stock looking with no changes other than trying to locate some 67 gtx hood scoops which would look really cool on a station wagon. Please help as I have found quite a few locally through craigslist but dont want to waste my money on something that wont work. The little I have read there are short rear shaft trannys, small block trannys. 18 or 23 spline. I dont have a clue. Also Can I even hook up a once auto motor to a 4 speed tranny or are there limitations to this. I am excited to have joined this forum and is the first one I have ever joined and hope to learn alot from it. Pics coming soon

Just to give you a little friendly advice tooley, you might want to post this in your own thread in "Engine, Trans and driveline" and not on someone else's resto thread.

Either way, welcome and you would be looking for a 833 tranny and the motor doesn't care what tranny is behind it....either way it will bolt up.

betty, there is alot of potential in that car. as far as a name for it,the car will let you know what name to go with.
