I need to replace the brake master cylinder and rebuild the drum brakes. Where can i get the best quality parts? Going on 65 Coronet 225 Slant 6

Wagner's not bad either.

I like Bendix too. But I found that if you have the correct part number, you can get better deals on Amazon. I wont trust their "look-up" but if you have the part number, there is money to be saved. Plus, the free shipping over $25 is a big seller too!

Quality Brake parts

Bendix gets no votes anymore -- since they sold out 5 years ago to the Federal Mogul conglomorate -- all their hydraulics is china - made.......

I was a Bendix distributor for 30 years and dumped them instantaneously upon their selling out to the other side..... Wagner buys -- doesn't make a drop.... and if Raybestos weren't the Nascar sponsor, you would never have heard of them......

I have everything for the 6 cylinders in stock -- no "futzing around" like the idiot rock auto internet gurus --- they stock absolutely nothing --- will waste your time with.........

Best to call me -- Craig - Mobile Parts --

Same here...I have bought tonssssssss of parts from them with absolutly no issues. 99% of everything I have bought from them was in stock. The one thing I don't like about them is when you order in large quantities, your parts come from several different places and you pay shipping from each. How much of an offset that is vs. sending out one large order from a single source, I don't know

Well the Mobile...What do you recommend?

LOL..No doubt. Pretty much weeded out most of all the manufacturer's...

quality brake parts

To answer some of your questions as to what constitutes quality brake
parts -- it is a multi-faceted answer depending on the car & the parts. New Old Stock U.S.A. can be the best -- provided it isn't dried up rubber and "too-N.O.S.".... Certain of the wheel cylinders that I've reproduced are the absolute best -- the 1936 - 1950 Chevy wheel cylinders I made have silicone-based pistons -- and they slide much nicer than they ever did from the factory. And then, I am a Centric distributor, out of California, for available - type items, but as time marches on their formerly made in USA items are now being bought from overseas, too.
I DON'T LIKE that............. as the clock of life keeps ticking, the quality of practically everything gets worse and worse........

As to the person who commented about multi shippings from Rock Auto --
keep in mind they have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ------ NOTHING --- in stock --- they are sitting in a "chat room" -- taking in money, having orders shipped to you from companies they're linked with. They are the biggest fictitious "company" on the planet.....

More later... gotta run.......

Obviously their business strategy works well for them and their customers. They don't have to waste tons of time on typical market metrics for trying to figure out priorities on what parts to stock and how many to keep in stock. Basically the dreaded supply and demand. They have multiple resources for aquiring parts rather than having all their eggs in one basket. They have a decent software platform with accurate part listings, enabling the customers to efficiently research, identify and compare products. They also do not have to buy/rent/lease a large facility(s) as well as have all the manpower, equipment and logistics in place to facilitate all those parts, thus keeping a large part of any businesses expenses, still on their bottom line.

In the end they have managed to create an electronic business platform, that has a very low overhead, has an organized and efficient software base for customer interface as well as for accounts and shipping logistics, meaning they can have product out to the customer just as fast or even faster that the typical lock stock warehouse. With the lower overhead they can provide a lower product price, making them much more competitive and successful in their market.

Being a division manager of an engineering lab, I have many many customers in the the industrial, manufacturing, military and powerGen arena. The strategy that rock auto has taken is nothing new in the means of streamlining business. They all use it in some sort of manner. It has a high profit margin because of its lower overhead-time/money efficiency. Being more retail is sold online vs. in stores these days, Rock Auto has manipulated the market with a low cost, low liability business structure. I don't think they are wasting anyones time or would consider them "fictitious". Obviously they have your attention.

I wouldn't consider their format "they wave of the future" or "Entrepreneur" because it has been around and grown with the internet for many years now. One thing they can be awarded with is being able to put all the right pieces in place to create, maintain and continue to grow their business with that strategy. I wouldn't say the days of Mr. Goodwrench behind the counter are over, but this isn't 20-30 years ago. Unless you can advertise yourself enough, create and maintain a positive reputation and come up with an even more efficient and double edged portfolio, it's gonna be hard to survive. Being a small business owner yourself, have the professional courtesy not to cheap shot or slang talk your competitors, but learn from what works for them, improve it, build on it and gain new ideas from it. Coming here and trying to throw them under the bus isn't going to get you anywhere and it sure isn't going to gain you anymore customers. Bad way to sell your services, it never works..

I guess after spilling my guts on Rock Auto and why it works, it still boils down to the fact that I have had great reliable service from them and parts are sitting on my doorstep within a couple days of clicking "checkout" on their website.

I have never had a problem with Rock either. Everything bought has arrived in 3 or 4 days and adding in shipping, has always been considerably less than going to Napa, Auto Zone, Advanced or Manny Moe and Jack.

I agree 100% with what Propwash has said. I have bought a lot of parts from ROCKAUTO and never, ever had a problem. Starting with the order, payment, shipping, quality of the parts and fitment I have nothing but good things to say.

Mobileparts should stand up and take notice, how a reputable business is run.
I can tell you that I would never buy anything from you with your attitude.
Looks to me as if you are only here on this site to peddle your wares.
Can't speak for others, but that is not why we are here.
I would suggest you go about your way and hide under a ROCK---AUTO somewhere.
It is people like you that keep us going back to reputable companies like ROCKAUTO.
I could rant forever about this, but the more I think about it, the more I know it is not worth my time.
To the rest of you and the Mods and owner of this site I apoligize.

Just checked all of Mobileparts posts and everyone is for selling his wares. Do we need people like this on our site, only for their own benefit? I think not...feel free to chime in if you would like to express your opinion.. Mobileparts is also invited to chime in.

I have tried Rock Auto, and really, I'm not impressed with their prices. I like to find the part number of what I need, and then go to amazon, or frugal mechanic.com. Amazon usually gives me the best price, FREE shipping for orders over $25, and no tax! That adds up kiddies! Especially since I live in the stix and have to figure in gas money to pick-up parts. Even when I have to pick-up parts, versus shipping, I have to figure that it costs me $5 just to get my rusty old Ram down the driveway!

To "Propwash" and whoever else agrees with him -- just remember -- you are not getting any PITMAN ARM for any 1965 - 1972 MOPAR from a "rock auto", you are not getting some of the OBSOLETE horn relays or a 1969 N.O.S. Ignition Switch --- just letting you all know that sometimes it takes a REAL MAN to have REAL PARTS. Those who have a problem with that can continue to wear a skirt...........it's not illegal to wear a skirt......... Craig @ Mobile Parts -- 516 - 485 - 1935.... home of rear MOPAR parts............................

Well said.

Seriously???? Does the saying "shoot yourself in the foot" or "pounding nails in your own coffin" come to mind? With your highly proffessional and rational response, you have undoubtingly given people a reason to go check out Rock Auto, or.. well......anybody but you. I have to hand it to ya, I am completely astonished you own any sort of business. I would expect comments like that out of a snot nosed 11 year old claiming to have the better Huffy, but someone trying to sell product as a source of revenue as a registered business..Wow!

The Real Men, Real Parts and Skirts bit is kinda funny. Do you double as a monster truck announcer on Sunday's in between issuing certified man cards? Either way good luck to ya. I'll sit back and wait to see you appear in Forbes while you wait for a phone call from me. Sound fair?
