As I’ve been working on my 68 charger, I’ve removed the torsion bars to replace some frame parts and the car is up on jack stands. I need to put the car back on the ground to roll it around. Can I get away with not putting the torsion bars back in to just roll the car around? I would need to re-remove the torsion bars after rolling the car since it’s going back on jack stands for priming. Looking to see if I can avoid a little work if I can. Thanks

The torsion bars hold the front of the car up, so you will need to put them in or fab up a dolly of some sort to move the car around.

The answer to your question is yes. As long as the lower control arms are "dangling", you can cut two short sections of 2X4 and simply wedge them between the control arm and the frame as you lower it back to the ground. It will hold the car up just fine and the soft pine compresses without distorting your frame rails.

I've built some AFX'er's over the years and it's just one of many tricks to keep the car mobile.

Good luck with that hotrod.

Your lower control arm bumpers will probably be enough to hold it off the ground. Let it down and see.

I've done exactly that.....it'll be really low but it should roll.
