Will it fit , is it ugly and a bad idea ?

you should do whatever you want with your ride but if it was mine I would not change the dash. IMO I really like the old dashboards and feel it is part of the sole of a car. I would never change a dash unless it was complete toast and even then I would replace with an existing correct dash

I guess I should have said I was replacing the original Satellite dash with the dash from a 70 charger already.. don't know if its called a rallye or not but the dash I have is hacked up pretty good and the charger dash ( cluster ) is temp in place.... I liked the tic toc tach and gauges better than the big plain speedo that came in the satellite and every other family car for mopar ...LOL

but saw this and started thinking for the same or actually less money to put a nice 70's dash in I could go with that instead.. just a thought.. not real keen on the idea

I think it really depends on your plans for the rest of the car. If you're going to shave and lower it, run a 3rd gen hemi, custom interior then, yeah, you could make it work.. But if the dash is the only "modern" component, it'll stick out like a stiff @*&! at a Christy Canyon film festival.

CHRISTY CANYON???!!! Oooooh MAN, thats great! Now there's a blast from the past!
no charge for the pun.

I agree with 5wndwcpe.
except...
Nikki Dial was my gal.

I loved Christy Canyon...... LOL

the cluster prolly wont work. remember the new cars are using a Can-Bus style electrical system.

i think it would look odd myself. i think it would look better with a stock dash thats modded to your liking. just my opinion tho

i think i'm officially the youngest person on this forum i have no idea who christy canyon is

Do whatever you want.I removed all my woodgrain and replaced it with polished alluminum and aftermarket gauges.A lot of people told me I shouldnt do it,but after they saw it finished they changed their tune. Plus it will be easy to go back to original if I want.

Don't feal badly, I'm 42 and I had know idea who she is until I googled her just now.
As for the dash, I vote no. I prefer things stock appearing or with era correct mods. My 2 cents.

A friend of mine dumped a 440 into a PT Cruiser, so there was a lot of work on the car, but he had the same thoughts as you, in reverse. He put a dash in it out of a '70 Challenger. Didn't have many problems, so I'd say it can be done and wouldn't look too badly. Maybe I'm biased, but I really liked the dash I had in the '09 Challenger.

Not to a mopar maybe to a street rod or a rat rod but never to a classic-body style of super stock racing sacrilegious

Check out my thread in this very forum. You will see pics of this application in a 70 GTX. It was some work trimming and fitting but all in all it went in like it was meant to be there. Biggest mod on the dash frame itself was trimming the left and right mounting "flanges" and fabbing up new mounting brackets. The bigger issue/effort is trimming the top of the dash cover upper area until it fits just right.

I think it looks even better than I had expected but the bottom line is, it is YOUR car, do what blows YOUR skirts up!

The dash pics are about 6 or 7 pages in to the thread.

Darius your car is incredible, cant wait to see it when its finished. It (dash) looks really good in there.. really really good.. I saw your thread before but forgot about the interior.. finding a donor car at an affordable cost to the project is an issue ...

I bought the donor car on Coparts. I paid $6700 for it and I drove it off the lot! It had been hit in the rear but the stuff I wanted all worked just fine.
So far, I have sold appx $2000 worth of parts off that car so I'm into a 5.7, transmission, dash, brakes, computers, wire harness, and console for under 5k!! I'm happy with that. I still have stuff to sell and the local parts yard offered to buy what is left, i have not heard a price but I'm thinking anything will be just that much less I had to pay for the good stuff!
