well i wanting to put my car back together close as stock as possible. so my question is since my fender tag dont tell me and i dont have the build sheet is what did most 73 roadrunners come with. am radio or am fm radio. this car was a big block car. automatic transmission console car. non ac.

The fender tag should have a radio code. "R11" for am radio. The presents of a optional rear speaker and whether or not it has a stereo harness or mono harness(with a fader control) would provide clues as to which radio it may have come with originally.

What he said....

and just from memory, FM was relatively new back in the early seventies, so many of us back then had AM radios in the car from factory..and we swtiched em out ...a lot.

My 64 Polara 500 Convertable came with a factory AM/FM Radio. but you are correct in that most cars came with AM/PM radios back in the day.

I just lately got a AM/FM radio from a member here for my 73 Satellite just for looks... The member i got it from does have a 73 RR If he or the other members who have them spot this im sure they could tell you, but you could put this in the restoration thread, maybe get a quicker answer.. I don't know when FM came out but sounds earlier then i thought because i to remember changing them out because they didn't have them.

AM/FM Radio

My 74 RR has a R35 on the second data plate that is a AM/FM Multiplex Stereo radio, what does your date plate read?????

Here are the 72' radio sales codes, pretty sure 73' was similar.
