late model hemi into early b bodies

" Up hill "? Yeah like walking in snow up to my head carrying somebody on my back while dragging a boat anchor for an aircraft carrier. But I think I see the down hill slide due to a possible oversite on my part, and since I have only 1 eye, thats my story and I'm sticking to it, lol!!

I may have forgotten to put the cup inside the m/c that the booster rod pushes against. I suspect this cause I borrowed a buddy's 1 inch m/c (wilwood) and my dad's booster (which is the same kit I have, just incase mine is bad), anyway, I saw that cup thingy and cant remember if I put mine in!! Hopefully this is all that is making my brakes not work correctly, if not try the other booster, if still not working right, then it's manual all the way. Tomorrow is gonna be fun!!

Firggin booster turned out to be bad, and I did install the plug thingy in the master. Went for a test and after doing some adjusting on the proportioning valve I got the rears to lock before the front. Now the other news! Did a small test again later this afternoon, and the brakes dont seem to want to work as well as they did this morning, maybe the pads and shoes havent bedded in yet or maybe I should try a 1 inch m/c...more tuning tomorrow.

After doing some research I found out a 1' m/c, and 15/16 rear wheel cylinders should give me great brakes. Didn't have the time to work on the car today, so maybe this week before I get an alignment, cant wait!!!

Haven't got to the brakes, but it's in for an alignment. AAA came by with a flatbed and drove it down there for me. When I get it back it'll be time to sort the brakes out.

I dont get it, my dad drove the car for the first time after getting an alignment, and he said it drives like a muscle car and nothing wrong with the brakes...wtf! I will admit, after doing some intown driving they seem to be getting better, hell, I even loaded the car seats for the rugrats and grabbed the better half and went for a cruise and I'll be damned if the brakes felt like they were biting pretty good. I guess I'll just have to do some cruising and maybe they'll get even better.

On a lighter note, there wasn't a single guy at the alignment shop that kept working when my car showed up. Lots of questions and even a few guys took some pics, good thing they have double doors to the office or else my head would not have fit thru, lol!!

Not yet, need to figure out why the battery keeps going dead. Maybe a freeway drive is exactly what it needs to charge it back up. The better half said I need to figure it out soon cause she wants to drop the hammer on it, so I got some work ahead of me.

Hey Zack no camera ? Come on let's see some pics ! Congrats on getting that Beast on the road. Brakes are over rated anyways. LOL.

I'll get some pics this weekend and post them up. Gotta program the speedo, so drive is in order, oh darn, I gotta drive it again, lol. I'll see about getting a money shot, you know, boiling the tires with lots of smoke. That reminds me, I could throw on the old rollers (new tires) and let it rip. Kinda like the your burnout picture would be cool.

good deal zack i'm glad it's working out for you.you and tin need to meet halfway in chicago i'll show you guys around lol

Working out the few bugs, shift mechanism on the trans needs a small adjustment, just might switch back to shocks on the rear instead of air shocks. And wouldn't you know it, the friggin' pinion seal leaks, no biggie, I'll get another and r&r it. Also the power steering box needs some of the slop taken out.

Gonna program the speed today and adjust the rear brakes out more, which I think could be what my problem has been all along, we'll see.

The windy city eh, that would be a long trip with the rugrats in the back and I'm sure I would be totally nuts by the time I got there, lol!

then you'll fit right in!!!:blob1:

The friggin' Optima battery was no good. I bought it just over 3 1/2 years ago and it would always need to be charged, so today I took it in to have it load tested and it failed. So I got another one, they gave me alot of credit for the old since it was just out of warranty, so a total of 50 bucks and I was on my way, also got a 10 dollar mail in rebate, so make it 40 total.

Ok guys here's the skinny on whats going on. The brakes worked but never felt quite right, ok for intown driving, but hell no for the freeway. I'll make this short (pun intended), I finally got my new booster friday and was able to swap it out today. I also changed the 1 1/8 mc to a 1 inch. Now the brakes works perfectly after some fine tuning on the proportioning valve.

Also the temp was running around 207-210 with the fans ALWAYS ON, and that wasn't right. So I got a new thermostat 203 degrees, and a new temp sender for the fans, on at 210, off at 195. Now when going down the road the fans dont run, but intown driving they cycle onand off as they should. My fans should last alot longer since they aren't running ALL THE TIME!

Charging system is working perfectly thanks to the new OPTIMA battery. Cant believe my other one took a **** after 3 years just sitting in a box until a few months ago. Granted I did, use it to test run the motor once I git into the car to see if the engine was any good, but this is total crap, water under the bridge now.

While I do like the way the car sits, I'm not liking the ride. This is my screw up, and now I now how and why it rides like a car with now suspension. The friggin' lower bump stops are hitting the frame...dooh!! Also found the passenger side upper control arm boot is MIA. So I got another one and will put it on after I crank the torsion bars up some. If I still dont like the ride, I'm gonna put in the 1.03 torsion bars I got, new ball joint boot and take it back in for an alignment since the shop told me I have 3 months warranty to change it if I dont like the way it is.

Finally, I need to get some leafsprings. The originals are just worn out and gotta be replaced.

I'm jealous Zack, but I'm catching up....

Dont be Tin, I'm still working bugs out, but it's a blast anyway to drive, no pun intended. I was thinking about getting that line pressure gizmo to see if the shifting would be alittle firmer on wot runs. Got any thoughts?

I put the Trans go shift kit and the voltage booster on mine, unfortunately it'll be a while before I can tell you how it works..

A few updates.....the rear has been giving me problems, and no matter how much friction modifier I have put in, the tires chirp around every corner and it's really pissing me off. I think I put some of the clutches in wrong when I rebuilt it, so this weekend it's coming apart. Next is the cooling.... it has been running 215 even with a 195 thermostat and a fan temp sender with a 210 on 195 off. So I put in a 180 t-stat and the temp is much better, around 195. I put back the original fan temp sender, 195 on 180 off and the fans run non stop even on the freeway, so I'm gonna go back to the 210 on 195 off. Another is the steering. There is a spot when turning left that the steering gets hard. When you put more arm into it, it'll free up and continue like normal. But I think that I've got this one figured out. The center link is closr to the oil drain bolt, so when turning left I think it's hitting. Thats an easy fix, grind down the bolt or center link or a combination of both. Finally the heat isn't working, may have popped a fuse or the electric water servo has taken a dump (vintage air has had problems with these valves), and also I may have the heater hoses crossed, I'll call hotwireauto tomorrow and find out which hose is the pressure side for certain. I guess with any car build of this nature there is gonna be some bugs to work out.
