I decided on a whim this morning that a nice 30min cruise into the office in the Satellite would be an enjoyable thing to do. After warming it up, I backed it out of the garage a little ways into the yard and while still in reverse made a turn and then WHAM! We have several trees in our side yard and one lone japanese maple. Somehow, and I don't know how...I let that little 4" diameter maple get in my blindspot and smacked it on the turn. WHAT A JACKASS!!! Needless to say, I'm a little bummed and mad at myself this morning about what happened. I've only put something like 45 miles on this car since my engine and exhaust improvements, and now this happens! Talk about shifting priorities. I've done minor body work in the past, but haven't tackled anything like this yet, so a little help or advise from any of you with experience would be great. I guess I'm going to need to locate a door?...or is this something that a new door skin would fix (unlikely)?

Ouch! I know the feeling too. Is a skin available and what condition is the door in overall? Is that rust in the corner?

At least it wasn't the quarter panel! I'd get a new door.

Yes, there was some rust bubbles coming up on both bottom corners. In fact, there are rust bubbles popping up on several of the lower panels. I know I really need to get to doing body work to nip these things in the bud, but I've been avoiding the obvious.

I think id get a new door, reverse damage, weve all done it before, that sucks.. that 4 inch tree! My brother in law almost cut A Camaro in two pieces on one, He wont do it again.

It didn't get the rocker panel, but it really needs to be replaced though. I don't know, maybe this is what I need to light a fire under my butt to get started on this stuff... but gosh, I really wanted to drive it awhile first. Even a rust bubbled car looks good from fifty feet away.

My wife doesn't even know about this yet. I can hear her now... "Thats all you need is to just keep spending more money on that stupid thing!"

Ok Ok. No more taking you out to dinner. Huh? What? Ohhhhhhh. You meant the car!

Find a door and move on. Looks like its time for a makeover anyway judging form the bubble and chipped paint on the front fender too

On the bright side at least it wasnt the quarter pannel or fender - those are a bit more expensive- And at least you had some cancer bubbleing up on that one///
Ive seen doors go cheap and you should have no prob fining a new one-

Getting new exhaust welded in and got a call on the answering machine last night theres somthing wrong with the satellite...!
At least it was just that they couldnt open the trunk (gotta wiggle the key)-was sweating all night thinking I bought the wrong one from flowmaster -or worse my car had been damaged or somthing awful

boy is daisy duke ever going to be mad over what you have done to her car lol at least you didn't drive it off a cliff like bo and luke.

Just wanted to let you know theres a door here from near Toronto- just to let u know- im sure you will find one closer unless you come up to Canada much...PM me if you need the info

You need a good body man and a chainsaw. Get rid of the tree, unless the wife likes it, and have a very good bodyman use a stud gun to pull the door as close as possible removing the pressure crease. I've seen worst and fixed worst. You shouldn't need a door, in some places they are very hard to find. Everyone seems to want to replace instead of repair. You shouldn't have to. You may have a coat of filler on the door, and maybe a few rust holes, But its cheaper than getting a new door and paying to have it painted to match the car. Hope this helps.

did the exact same thing to the wifes minivan at my sisters place this summer - at least its just a minivan.

whats the color code of your car?

Once again, I was right.... this is how it went down. But, we are both cool with it since in reality it's not that huge of a deal.

If I remember correctly, its FY1 Lemon Twist/Top Banana Yellow. The original paint was actually sunfire yellow, but is was repainted in the mid to late 90s the color you see now. I've got a can of Lemon Twist, but I don't know if it would match due to the age of the cars paint.
