How hard is it to dye the vinyl on the dashpad?

easy, clean with rubbing alcohol, use bulldog adheasion promoter (about $20. a can) let dry for about a hour then spray with S E M vynal paint let dry overnight befor you handle the part. I did my dash and door panels and 6 months later they still look great. I started from saddle brown and went to black. If Your going from green to white, it may not work as well. good luck.

I do not want to paint it, I want to dye the vinyl. I dropped a tiny bit of paint on the pad and it will not come off.

Also, where can I get vinyle dye in the right color?

Just Dashes has specific Mopar colors but they are pricey $$

I did the same as this. I dyed my dash pad with SEM vinyl dye and it's still looks great two yrs later.

SEM spray vinyl dye, get it and the adheasion promoter from Eastwood. 2 cans of dye will do the job, about 4 coats. My '73 was originally gold, previous owner dyed white(snow storm on the windshield) and I dyed black.
I advise removing the pad or you will miss spots. The key is in the prep. Clean, clean and then clean again. I used Simple Green and a scrub brush 4 or 5 times. Just before spraying the promoter, I wiped down with Eastwood's PRE, but any wax/bug/tar remover is just as good.

This is the stuff I used on my '74, same for my '73 only the Landau Black dye.

Wow, that white was SUPER bright. Whatever product the p.o. used over the gold sure had good coverage. It looks like everything good that I've heard about SEM's vinyl dyes is true...the black dash looks great. I'm seriously considering changing my own saddle-tan interior over to black, mostly because it opens up more exterior color options. But when I do, Eastwood and SEM products will be my choice. I've personally never been disappointed with either company's products in the past.

Good luck with it, Randy.
