Wiper Linkage Bushing

Has anyone else paid down on one of these? As of lately, they're not available anymore NOS. Not sure what may have happened to all of them, as of a year + ago, there was almost 200 of them in inventory. Now they're all gone.

So, we need to support Topher in this.

If someone will at least get me a detailed drawing with ALL dimensions I'll write a cnc program-offered to on other post same issue no response to me yet...

Wiper Bushing

Any update on where this project stands?:icon_pray: Sure hope soon it's been raining a lot here in PA.

Has anyone been able to retro these wiper transmissions with parts from a different car?

Thanks!!

Is there a reason you guys keep ignoring BigJim? He's offered several times to make this part and nobody responds. Its ******* rude. Hes not asking for any money up front (6 out of a needed 100 deposits? It aint happnin'. Get it?), just a sample part or even a drawing. If I had this piece on my car I would have sent it off MONTHS ago.
Yeah, really. No ****.

Bushing

You can get the cream colored bushings from a Chrysler/Dodge dealer. The part #3799089. Cost around $2.00:confused3:

^^ what rdrunner 1974 said.. Bingo!!, I have a brand new bag of them that I just bought two weeks ago, same part number, not sure why but mine came in a bag of nine, I could not buy them individually. Bought right over the counter at my local Dodge dealer...

I found them all over the internet for very little money. I'm not sure what the issue is unless there are a variety of them and some are more difficult to find than others.

X2 I get mine off ebay and they sometimes come with the locking ring to boot...under 10 buck to my door.

My appologies guys. I dropped the ball. I'll schedule a trip down to get the parts from the molder this Friday and send them back to Bill. It's his part, so he should be the one to decide who he wants to send it to. Like I said from the very beginning, I'll return everyone's money right away.

It's amazing to me how many people in this thread need to clean their glasses or get their vision checked or put down the pipe or something. Look very carefully at the nice, clear, sharp photograph in the first post in this thread. This what you're looking at is NOT the commonly-available snap-in bushing. It is the 3-piece release cam and pivot assembly that goes between the wiper motor crank arm and the wiper transmission drive bar. There is no aftermarket availability and there is no substitute, and no you did not find it at the dealer, and no you did not find it in the HELP! section of the parts store. Use your eyes, folks.

There is a guy selling reproduction ones on ebay.

They look a tad different...anyone else see/try these?

They look pre-chewed-up!

I was being kind when I said different. Someone bought one of them...wonder if it will fit.

I'm going junkyarding tomorrow if the weather is half decent. If I find one I'll be glad to send it to Big Jim to duplicate.....if the offer still stands.

It's been said before on this forum that the old style link with the spring clip, wave washer, and black boot covered one should work. I see no reason why it shouldn't. The Coronet was the same body, same windshield, etc. Even the 3 speed link is shaped the same. It uses the small bushing and a regular old style crank but I'm sure it will not park the wipers below the hood. Still better than no wipers or using fishing line.

Topher, I appreciate your efforts to make this valuable part available for us, now that it seems the NOS ones have dried up.

Just return the parts to me if you would, at your convenience.

Someone from another site suggested the earlier (71-74) b bodied cars might have alternative fix. Anyone have one to try out?

Just wondering the symptoms of the bushing failing? My wipers just stopped working, motor still works but just cant quite grab the wiper. I can hear it banging around and the wiper arms just do a little jump when I activate the switch. I'm scared to take it apart, probably won't like what I see lol

Also before it happened when I would turn off the wipers they would drop way below their normal sitting point and make a loud thump when doing so.

Yep, sounds like the classic drop. You should be able now to move your wipers by hand with ease. Take one of the cowl grilles off and turn on the motor. Now maybe you lost the small one since you can hear a thumping, which is the arm moving around.

Gents, my apologies if I mislead anyone here regarding this part issue. That was not my intention, rather the opposite, just trying to help. After seeing the picture at the start of the thread I thought that it was a linkage bushing that was the topic, as stated in the title of the thread.

Turns out I was wrong and should have looked a little closer. Just so happens that I just went through the same thing with my '70 and thought I could help. The guys at the parts desk told me these bushings will work for anything from late 60's to 94. As you can see from my pic; sorry not a good one, that I was thinking that we were talking about the same thing.

So I gather you were meaning the drive coupler for the wiper motor?

Again, sorry if for any confusion or stalling your thread/progress.

Slantsixdan...it always amazes me how some people just can't get to the point and state that maybe there's something wrong, or some confusion in the matter...they have make a point of trying to make people look like they're stupid with smart *** remarks...Cheers.

I've run into this sort of thing before, shake it off.

Anyway, is there a solution to this particular problem other than hoping to get lucky at a salvage yard? Around, here most of the older stuff was long ago melted down into smart bombs or rebar or new Japanese/Korean cars.

What year models are plagued with this problem?

New to Mopar guy.
