HELP!!!!! my cummins auto is slippin and i have to make 200 mi trip with livestock in my 91. 360 at 110,000. it has died goin down the road, no fire at coil, jumped to coil still no start. hauled it to shop it started, another time, won't start at home, wnet under dash and unplugged wires ( red wire and purplw/ white wire, plugged back todether, it started, unplugeed it and still started. guess that wasn't the proble, but why did it do that? smeone said could be problem with ignition switch?
my question, when it dyes, what can i do to get it going again? if it losses current to inside cab, will it die? any help to diagose this will be dreatly appreciated, has new coil/ thanks BILL
also anyone want to buy 95 dually cummins, auto. 150,000 one owner miles, darn close to new lookin truck, needs trans rebuild? gonna take it to trans shop and if they say it needs total trans rebuild i will offer it for sale at $5,000. thanks for any help. BILL

My buddy just went through this and think he said he eventually replaced the computer.

thanks for the reply. we checked the connection at the computer, good, we bumped it with a small "bumper" and it started. huh!!? i thought computers were either good or bad. but i replaced it $200. still died later, and thats when i had that experience with the wired inside at firewall. i think problem may be at ignition switch at column ( its not ovrerly loose though), or short in wiring somewhere? thanks for any and all help! BILL

Sounds like a intermittent problem with the crank sensor

.............They dont need the crank sensor to start/run, its there to let the computer know to give the 12 input to charge and for the a/c to work........kim...........

yhays for the rely. i did replace the computer cause i tapped it and it started, like i said after that i unplugged connection of little wires inside near the firewall connection but that didt have anything with it running . i have made 2 trips totally about 100 mi and have had no further trouble but i don't trust it really to go anywhere. i have to feel it still has a problem somewhere!!!!?? thanks for the help. BILL
