:angry4: O.K this is Not to sell a vehicle but has any one ever bought a car and given promise to get title later and the title NEVER came. well that happened to me bought a 69 RR and don't have a title .i am in Texas.
i use to deal with "BROADWAY TITLE" just found out that they were bought by this company named "MAINELY TITLES" and they go by www.getnewtitle.com
on the internet. These people raise their prices over by 6 times .. use to be $139.00 which is not bad, NOW .. $795.00 .. HOLY*%&^ .. if you ask me..
if any body on this site know of a place were we can still get a title for our beloved automobiles with out having to sacrifice a mortgage monthly payment i sure would like to know cause now i am stuck with a car, no title and Mainely titles that wants to make a KILLER PROFIT ...out of the circumstances...

Depending on which state you live in, you could also get the car bonded by a bonding agent, and ask for a title to be issued after its bonded....still have to pay but a far cry from $800! But after I believe, 4 or 5 years the car is yours....I bonded 2 cars before I shipped them from Alaska, as the owners couldn't find the titles nor could they be bothered by getting one from their DMV....

I don't feel your pain. Up here in MI we just go to the Sec. of State office, fill out the application, hand them your bill of sale(no matter how informal), they do there check to see if it comes up stolen or whatever and 25 minutes and 18 bucks later you leave with a temporary and watch the mailbox in about a week.

Yeah, I'm in Delaware and it was Pretty Painless for me. My car was originally a RI car, and they don't title them there. Then it was a NY car, and apparently they don't title this age of car there, or the guy just didn't care to get it done before selling it.

Either way, I took the Bill of sale, inspection report, proof of insurance and two letters I got from the preceeding DMV. Since it was last registered in RI, I got printouts from the DMV there signed and stamped. Basically, they had standard letters covering how they don't title these vehicles and sent me off with that.

The only hang up I had at my DMV was scrounging my glove box really quick for two bills to my instate residence with my name on them. For $139 I could ALMOST see having someone else deal with the hassle, but there's no way on God's green earth I would pay $800. My advice? Go to the DMV. Let them do and look over whatever it is they need to look over. At the very least, they will give you an idea of what it is that you need to have done before they can title and may even give you temp tags for the meantime.

I live in washington state... you can bond it here, (havent done that) But, if it is sitting on your property, i can call the local sherriff and get an abondon vehicle/hulk slip on it. This lets me sell it, dispose of it, or when it is in legal road worthy status, I can have it inspected and it will then issue a title to me. Something to maybe look into...

Try thes people and let us know what they quote you.

Tried to deal with them years ago and they eventually sent my money back after about 4 months. They go through the DMV in Maine (or used to) and the DMV was stopping all their paperwork. They had filed a lawsuit against them. Don't know if it was ever resolved.

international title search in Las Vegas...used and was happy

if you don,t have any luck give me a shout, [email protected]

Use the one in Vegas. I have used them twice since GA is a no title state for cars that old. Best bet is check with DMV and see if you can apply for a lost title. Should be able to with insurance and bill of sale.

What did the guy say about the title never coming, He promised to send one, things must be different in TX. here i could go to jail for doing that to you.

If it is a Texas car you can do it all your self.
In the very least ask the folks who know.
Every county in Texas has a title office bear in mind it most likely will be a different place then you usually go to get your tags and xfr a title. That place is the county tax office.
What you are looking for is a State agency, I really can't remember wather it is TxDot or not. But I have delt with them a few times and they were allways eager to help and explain any process needed.
Hell last year I went down to them about a motorhome title I had lost that I was selling and walked out with a new copy of my lost title in less than five minutes.
IMHO there is only one place to gat the information, all of the information and right the first time. After all you are paying them, use them.

Hope this helps

I know a place for titles. $350.00

mechanics lien

All you need to do is file for a mechanics lien. (I live in illinois, and this works in my state. Try it, it may work for you...) First, do a title search in your state, not the state the car came from. This is an advantage to you, cause state dmvs dont communicate with each other( in my state it cost $ 10.00 ). When the search comes back, you'll either find out who the last owner is, ( if it did come from your state ) or it will come back negative. In either case, store the vehicle for 30 days. In this time, do nothing to the vehicle, just let it set. Charge a fee of $50.00 per day. Next file a mechanics lien. ( you can get the form from your local dmv ) Once filed you have to send a registered letter with signature confimation to the last known owner letting them know they have 30 days to pay off the lein ( which is the price you paid for the car and the total storage fees ) there is a chance that the last known owner will want to reclaim the vehicle, in which case you make a boat load of money to purchase another car. Otherwise wait the 30 days . Then, if the original owner doesn't reclaim the vehicle, you have to place 2 ads at least 3days apart in your local newspaper saying your going to sell the car at auction ( you can auction the vehicle right in your own driveway ) 30 days from the last ad placed in the paper. If no one comes to the auction, you keep the vehicle and say you bought it for $1.00 ( because you have to have a bill of sale to send in with your paperwork ). Or if someone comes to bid on it, have a friend there to bid a crazy price on it so you know you will get it back. Once thats done, take the new bill of sale, proof that you did a title search, proof you placed the ad in the newspaper, if there was a previous owner, proof you sent them a letter ( ie..the registered letter reciept ). Once all this is done, fill out a dmv form for a new title, and send it in with the paperwork you now have, and the fees that your state charges, and you should get a clean title back for the vehicle. This works! ( at least in my state. I have done it lots of times, i worked for a used car lot ) Anyone can file a mechanics lein, as long as its legitimate and you can prove a monitary claim against the said vehicle (ie..the storage fees ) try it, it takes a little time ( about 60 days ) but its worth it to have a clean title. I dont know what the fees are in texas for filing for a title, but in illinois, its $65.00, so in my state it would cost.less than $100.00 total. Good luck to you. Try it, you have nothing to lose.....
