Bill,
I THINK that mirror is also correct through 1966, if not the 1966 one is VERY similar in appearance.

Dave,
You're probably right but every time I think I get in trouble !

Would you sell just one?

I might be interested in the other one depending ... are the heads tight and do you have any close ups of the pitting mentioned?

This is correct. The difference with the 66 mirror is the little pentastar at the bottom. The earlier ones as I understand it don't have this.

Actually it's not pitting, more of a flaking ,and heads are tight..

There were several differences between early and late. Early had an external phillips head screw on the forward tip of the post that you used to tighten the head and the plate mirror that was glued into place. It also had two small verticle lines cast into the mirror head @ the 6 o'clock position. You will see that there is a recessed ring cast into the forward part of the post and the edge of the mirror head has less of a bevel. The later mirror gave access to the inside of the mirror via a plate mirror that was held in place by a flat spring that set into a grove. Removing the spring allowed you access to the screws to tighten the head of the mirror, it also had the Pentastar on the rear of the mirror head and a greater bevel due to the area for the flat spring. I added a few photos that show the early differences. The mirror in my photos is NOS and was purchased off of CL....I won't say what I bought it for...you would cry. It still had the paper taped on the bottom with the original screws and yellowed dried up tape. The later model was considered an advancement due to the ability to replace the glass and adjust the mirror with greater ease. The earlier model has to be adjusted by loosening the screw, adjusting the mirror where you want it and then tightening the screw. To replace the mirror the glass has to be broken out, cleaned up and a new piece glued into place. It would be very important in a 100 point car but for a local show car or driver its not worth it.
