Update 3-11-11

Well, I FINALLY got some time in the shop and here is the progress on the HVAC re-work and the wiper linkage modifications I had to work out. I still have some more HVAC stuff to get through but I think this was the toughest area.
First two pics are the linkage I had to modify to clear the ducts out of the top of the air handler box.

Here is what I did to the ducting from the Charger to work with the space the GTX "allowed" me.
I obviously cut it down and then added some regular plumbing ABS adapters
to accept some 2" ducting from Vintage Air.
The outlet on the side that looks like an attachment was the source for the vent that blows air on the side windows in defrost mode. I abandonded the main defrost vents because I just could not make them work and still have wiper linkage in there. I then used these side vents to channel defrost air to the main windshield. I disconnected the "doors" from the main defrost outlet by unhooking the rod inside the unit so those doors will stay closed and all the defrost air will come through the side vent outlet.
The new vent out of the top will route normal heat/air to the dash vent on the far left and right of the dash. Bottom line is I won't have defrost air to blow on my side windows.........but these cars never had that anyway.

Here is the dash cover in place . You can see the defrost vent assy as well as how I placed the defrost vents through the upper dash.

This was all a major PIA!! I must have put that dash cover in and out 350 times already and there are a bunch more times to go!

So cool, I'm very glad I clicked on the "B body stiffening" thread, which has turned out to be so much more than what I thought it would be.

Very cool.

Thanks for taking the rest of along for the ride with pictures and the build story, looking forward to checking in on this thread more frequently in the future.

Well, it has been a few MONTHS since I have had time to go work on my car.
I'm not sure when I will get back to it but I WILL finish it. I could pay to have it done but that is not what I started to do and I want to build it myself.
At least business has picked back up so that stress is much lower these days. If I can just get a good ball rolling with work I will be able to get back on the car. i am about 10 solid work days away from taking it all apart and getting after the final body work and paint.
The biggest problem is I am doing this at a friend's shop and he is not there on weekends, other wise I would probably be done by now ( and maybe divorced too!)
Just thought I would post this up for those wondering WTF is up with Darius!

Damn Darius, I thought you might have died and gone to mopar heaven, lol!! Glad to hear things are good for ya, now get to work on that bad boy.

All I can say is, Dude! DUDE! Duuuuuude. That is some serious work there. I adsolutely enjoy the way you are tackeling your project. Yeah, it may take some time, but everything you are doing is so well thought out.

I'm new to the forum but can't wait to see the finished product! You've done allot of stuff I would never even try to attempt on my X.

I'll be standing by for updates!!!:headbang:

Darius......where are you????

well i just discovered this thread about two hours ago. i read everybit of it. and i am glad i did. your doing some extrordinary work. i'll be with you the rest of the way....

Well, I actually got two days in over the past month and I have planned two weeks ...xmas and New Years...off to do NOTHING BUT work on the car.
I have a few pics I will post tonote maybe showing the final HVAC plenumn I had to fabricate.
I believe that by New Years I should be able to take this thing apart and get after the body and paint. All the serious fabrication work is almost complete. I want to route my harness and fuel lines yet and I have to connect the brake pedal (fab a connecting rod to the booster) and connect the steering linkage and that is it for any more real fabrication .
I might get lucky and have it to Spring Fling, that will depend on work.
The busier it is, the more time I have for the car, sounds wierd but when there is work, there is $$ to hire back the folks I had to lay off. I have been doing all their jobs so I haven't had time for the car.

B Body stiffening UPDATE 12-13-11

I made this chase/duct for the fresh air intake. One of the bigger challenges on the entire HVAC system actually. I have elected to not have a fresh air vent on the passenger side otherwise this thing would have been much more involved.
I still have some clean up and trimming to do but it is done and fits. It is mostly a compression fit. There will be one screw on the front edge.
