Spoke with sales representative from Fine Lines yesterday and inquired about sending units and fuel lines. He said that the sending units that are available are experiencing high failure rates and they no longer sale them because of that problem. What is the best sending unit for a 66-67 B-body offered in either 3/8 or 1/2 sizes and where did you purchase from? Trying to feed my pump gas 512/440.

I got mine from www.521restorations.com, give Jeff a call I seem to remember him telling me that he tests all his sending units before he sends them out to make sure they will read right when installed.

I have never heard of a Mopar sending unit offered in !/2", is this something new that is being offered?

I went with 3/8 also for my 500/440- but used a clay smith pump with a 1/2 " in and out.
And 1/4 " return

Yes they are new..er I think they have been around for a year or so. Though I'm not exactly sure why you would need that much fuel flow.

I have a 1/2" fuel and a smaller retun line on my 66 Hemi car as that was what was suggested for my engine build. If there would have been a 1/2" sender available when I did the car I would have used it. I am not sure how much difference it would have made sinde the fuel lines going into the carbs are smaller. I think the main thin with my car is the fact that there is a larger VOLUME of fuel available in the larger line diameter so no chance of starving.

I have a 3/8 sending unit and 3/8 line. It is more then enough for a 10 second street/strip car. Unless you want to build a race car and run 9's the 3/8 will work fine. Ron

383man,
Thank you for the insight. Looks like it will be 3/8" line and sending unit for my build also. Are you running a mechanical fuel pump?

No just the little Holley red pump with the built in regulator. But I thing I will go to a bigger pump this year as I want to try a bigger carb when I can and I know the red pump is pushing its limit now. But it pulled fine running 10.70's. I plan to go with at least the blue pump. Ron

robbmc has the 1/2 inch sending unit and filters. i went 1/2 on the coronet and ordering another one for a another build with much more power than the hemi. i forget where i got the 1/2 line but it is out there.

Mancini racing offers them. I bought one from them shortly after they introduced them...good, solid piece but gauge did not work after installation (i think it was made in mexico).

Robbmc offers one in a-body form only but are discontinuing them soon.

Hope this is helpful.
