Your first car?

Back in '72 I bought a very used and abused '69 Road Runner, 383, 4-speed, paid $500 for it. I ended up fixing a lot of problems it had and it was a decent car otherwise. Had it through the first gas crunch, some of you will know what I'm talking about. Sold it soon after to someone who wrecked it about 6 months later. I ended up buying my first new car, a '74 Duster with a 318 and 4-speed.

Oh yeah, I now have another '69 Road Runner! this one is much better then the first!!!

Bought a 55 Buick for $25 when I was 14.
Never tagged it, but did manage to drive to school once or twice
using the parking brake and the glass washer jar full of gas, but that's another story.

Second car was actually my mom's $100 Olds 98 4d with 425 10.25:1 "Super Rocket" and posi.
She only drove it once or twice, but I drove it all the time.

Then I talked her into buying a 1966 Coronet 440- Poly 318, A/C and P/W, and again it was really my car in her name. Wrecked it (yet another story), and missed it so much-

First car in my name was the replacement 67 Coronet 440 "White Hat Special"
LA 318 that ran so good, it dripped clean water, auto trans, manual every thing else.

The rest is, as they say...history.

1975 Dodge Dart That car was awesome! Crushed velvet interior with a nice stereo and a booming 360 with 2.76 gears that thing would ring out to about 140 miles an hour! After I did this my mother was so freaked, the parents made me put deeper gears in it to try and end that noise!

Here it is in its glory

I GAVE MY UNCLE THE $50 AND HE ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO LOOK IT OVER FIRST...AND I SAID "HECK NO". hE THREW ME THE KEYS AND SAID ENJOY HER.... I STARTED THAT TORINO UP AND IT FELT SOOOOOO GOOD SITTING IN THE DRIVER RIPPED UP BUCKET SEAT.... NEVER WILL I WALK ANYWHERE AGAIN! WELL THAT CAR ALMOST MADE IT HALF WAY TO MY HOUSE TILL I HEARD ONE HECK OF A BOOM AND THE CAR QUICKLY LURCHED ONCE THEN DIED... THREW A ROD THREW THE PAN. SEEMED THE CAR HAD NO FLUIDS IN IT. MY UNCLE DRAINED THEM AND WHEN I ASKED HIM WHAT THE HECK...HIS REPLY WAS THAT HE HOPED I LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON.... NEVER BUY A USED CAR FROM ANYONE, NOT EVEN FAMILY, WITHOUT CHECKING THE FLUIDS.. FOR YEARS I HATED HIM, BUT AS TIME PASSED I REALIZED HE WAS RIGHT. I HAVE NEVER MADE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN...

My first car

Hey everyone... Thought it would be entertaining to see what everyone drove when they first started out. Wish I could say my first ride was a Charger, or a Road Runner, but no.

My first car was a light blue 1989 Honda CRX. I got it used in 1990, beat the hell out of it for 6 years. Jumped it over speed bumps, maxed it out at 120mph, put a CB in it to mess with truckers when I was bored. Sold it to a friend for a great deal, then it got flooded by El Nino within a year and totaled.

It was no Mopar, but it was a great car nonetheless. Lucky I didn't die in it, considering it was basically a go kart encased in plastic panels.

Hope to see some great (and not so great) vehicles in this thread... don't forget pictures!

My first car was a 1957 Chrysler New Yorker (392 Hemi) that I bought from a friend for $200 in 1964. Followed that with a '63 Dodge Polara 500 ( HP 383 auto w/ 3.23 posi) and then a 1968 Coronet R/T (440 auto). After many other cars, both Mopar and others, I now am restoring a 66 Satellite.

I think I'm the only one on this board who didn't grow up with American cars. My mom had a Volvo 144 when I was a kid, then Hondas. My father had BMWs, MBs, MGs, now he drives a Prius. The Charger in my garage is my favorite car I've ever owned, but I gotta be honest and say it's the first American car I've ever had. My history:

1989 Honda CRX
1994 Toyota Celica
1998 Toyota Solara
2002 Acura RSX
2004 Honda Element
2005 Acura MDX
(Classic car bug finally caught up to me at this point)
1985 Mercedes 280SL
1974 Charger

One of these cars is not like the others... heh heh.

First car was a BEAT 83' AMC Eagle SX/4 with 258 6cyl and 3 speed auto, hail damage and riveted aluminum floor with walmart carpet.

..93 Dodge Dakota 4x4
..96 Honda Civic DX
.. 06 Mazda 3
..02 Dodge Dakota 4x4
..97 Mazda Protege
..09 Mazda 5
..04 Dodge Ram Hemi Sport 4x4 (my sig)
..67 Dodge Coronet Deluxe
..66 Dodge Coronet Deluxe

...Ok I think I am done

This 68 coronet was my first car, purchased for $1800. i haven't driven it yet but i will some day. Theres a resto thread for it on this website. The green road runner clone is my first driver though. I LOVE going EVERYWHERE in a muscle car! Ive abused and enjoyed it a lot but it's condition is always improving. And i will never sell it. how could i? I learned the rules of the road and did a lot of growing up in that car, it's priceless to me.

I started off with a 71 Maverick Grabber 200cid, w/ 3 on the tree. Pic below is of it as the tow car for my first drag car! It served me well as a daily driver before and after my first Mopar, 70 Challenger 318 cid,w/ spd. Pics below are of it before and after. Since the Maverick its been all Mopar w/ the exception of a few Forn Econoline work vans.

My first car was a pick up truck :glasses10: Bought an '85 D100 from my dad for $1000, had a S6 1bbl auto. It promptly got a 2bbl swap and 31" tires. Next one I got was a '72 D100, 318 2bbl w/ a 3-on-the-tree, manual everything and drums all round. Drove it when I got my license in '00, and still have it. It's been through a myriad of drivetrain changes, current one is a 318 5-spd, but that's about to come out again for something newer.

first car I bought was a '92 Mustang 4-cyl AT, traded it on a '92 T-bird SC. After that came my first Chrysler car, an '89 Lebaron 4-cyl 5-spd. Then I got my '87 Shelby GLHS, and have had a fwd turbo Dodge ever since (although not always running lol).

1988 Dodge Daytona C/S 5-speed.

Nice :headbang:

Mine was a 1947 Plymouth Business Coupe...flat head 6 with 3 on the tree.

my first was a 68 charger r/t 440 mag w tflight.was given over from my dad who had bought it brand new.
he told me he told the dealer when he first looked at the car he would pay cash if ,when taken to the local speedway,he could max out the 155 mph speedo.he paid cash ,so guess it would do it.
when i got the car it had 312,000 miles.blown eng, trans, rear end and bad electrical shorts.spent 4 years rebuilding it,gold paint with bumblebee stripes.drove it for 12 years and ended up in a bad rollover in a snow storm.still miss that car a bunch, brings a tear to the eye any time i talk about it.:sad2:

1950 Chevy sedan Delivery 265cui V8 bored and stroked to a 292..cast iron Powerglide,55olds rearend Posi, blue sparkle paint, baby moons, with a surfrack, and a Jacobs surfboard.....bought in 64 for 500 bucks
