Pulled my Sport fury out for the first time in a few years today. I changed to a set of Cop Car Rims I had. Getting it ready to do some work to get it out for next year.
Here is what i am looking for...Should I paint the Rims red to match the car?

Also, I was thinking of re-painting my roof White.

just looking for some thoughts on these 2 idea's

Thanks,
Chris

Also going to do a Disk Brake conversion any Thoughts on the best way to go. I found a couple kits on Ebay that look pretty nice for the money.

I think the 2 tone would look good, white better to me anyway.. As far as painting the rims I personally would keep them black, The thing is.... Are you going to be happy with the changes if you do them? I have always thought this way when it comes to a guys ride, do what trips a smile on you..

I have been toying with the white roof Idea for years, seen a couple that way and they look good. I figure i could always change it back if I don't like it. I do it my self and get the materials cheap, so it is not a huge deal. Nice thing about these cars is the seperation of the roof, makes the 2 tone easy

If you do your own work and have the materials to do it id say go for it, honestly i don't think you will want to change it back, ive seen them before with the white top, and your right, they do look good.. Like i said though, i like the black rims better then the same color of the car to me, but thats what i like, shouldn't change what anyone else likes, i do my own paint and work to, and i have toyed maybe someday trying to change the roof color mixing into the hood also, but that would be down the line if i did it.. I love that year car you have, i had a uncle that bought a brand new 64 blue 2 door HT, i was just a kid but ill never forget riding in it!

I am sure someone could photoshop the picture with the changes so you can see what it would look like BEFORE you spend any time and money doing it.

I bought a disc brake conversion off E-Bay for a cheap price. It was from a dealer for CPPA parts. It used all Mopar parts except the booster, master clyinder and prop valve/distribution block. The calipers were junk, traded them in as cores. The prop valve/ distrib. block was junk, went to the junkyard and got one. Still even with the scrap parts being replaced it priced out pretty good.

Personally, I am a fan of color-matched wheels with dog dishes, so I vote to paint the wheels red!

I also like the idea of a white roof, I think that would look great!

BTW, very nice car!

Jason

Save the paint money and put it into dark center americans. It will make a whole new car for you to enjoy.

if you are asking,...
keep the red...red steels...with bottle caps
like this?

happy new year!
sonny....

I like solid colors but I think your car would look good with a white top too. I also had cop car wheels on my 66 but didn't care for the cop caps much and put these on instead. The car is dirty here but I drove it every day too....

My car came from the factory dark turquoise with a white top. I plan to paint it all dark turquoise without the white top when the time comes. Although, since that's a long way off from now, I may change my mind and stick with the 2 tone. It definitely won't be aqua, though. I do like the body colored steel wheels myself - I plan to paint those as well. Here's a pic as it presently looks.

I like the two tone look....Two tone paint is almost a thing of the past now...Just like vynil tops...
Petty Blue 67 gTx

Keep the red top, paint wheels red with Bottle Caps.... That looks nice all shined up like Sonny Black photo...

I do like the RED wheels, think that is the way I am going to go.
Been through 3 other sets of wheels on this car in the 19 years i have owned it.
had american smoothies on it, american chrome torque thrust style, weld drag lights and now these.

Thanks for all the input guys, and those are some nice looking cars.

hmmm...Bright white, or like cool vanillla for the roof. which would be closer to the color of the seat inserts.

res ipsa loquitur--I obviously like the body color wheels with chrome caps and the subtle appearance of one color for the entire car--as you probably already know, most B-bodies of the 60's came with body-colored wheels. The thing speaks (for itself).

As for the disc brake conversion, I bought the entire Stainless Steel Brakes (SSB) kit and it's certainly adequate. To do it again, I'd go with the Wilwood kit and specify the 7/8" bore master cylinder.

Good luck with both the wheel and roof color issue as well as your brake conversion; Bob
