Well it's finally started! I was able to go home for Christmas and came back with my car. As I mentioned in my first post in the welcome thread this was the first car I ever bought and now after sitting on my parents ranch for almost 10 years I finally get to restore her. Luckily for me the Ranch is in California so there isn't much rust to contend with, just a bunch of dead mice (13 so far and I only got the back seat out!!!).

Because I know how much you guys love pics, enjoy!

Thanks!

Great looking 64! I'll be looking forward to see what you do with it.

P.M. sent! great project!Good luck with it.

If you figure out how to decipher the fender tag let me know....

That is the same car I'm building, and it is my favorite car. I have an extra push button bezel for the dash if your interested.

Nice set of wheels. I'm curious...what are the plans? Back to original?

Thanks! They polished up nicely so now I don't have to worry about purchasing new ones!

My current plans are:

Exterior: repaint her similar to the way she is now, I forgot how much I liked it that way...my original plans however was to put 330 side trim on it with a two tone paint scheme (B5 Blue on top with a birch white on bottom). Seeing as the wife likes the way she looks now I'll probably repaint her as she is!

Interior: is going to look as much original as possible, I love that old school look so it will have brown hook and loop carpet, brown tuck and roll benches...well you get the picture, think original.

Powertrain: I have a 440 RB that I plan to bore and stroke to around 505ish. Right now I'm planning on using 440source.com heads and rotating assembly. This will be mated to a 727 with a gearvendors overdrive all operated with the original pushbuttons. This should liven her up from the original 2 bbl 318 and make her freeway ready!

So the short answer: No not all original, just the interior. Granted my plans can change over the next couple years as I get deeper and deeper in this project!

What color was the interior originally? Blue with a brown interior is an odd combination.

Yeah, that is what I suspected as the factory would not have blue and brown indicated as an acceptable color combo.

Thats right from what I can see of the original paint that was left under the blue it's definitely an anniversary gold car. Is there a difference between the "ZZ" code and the "ZZZW"? Can you decode the rest of the tag??

Agreed, Iv'e been wondering what to do with the interior...the wife and I both like the blue, which is a bit richer than is coming out in the pics and a HUGE plus since I have to make sure the wife doesn't get to jealous, but I am really having issues finding an acceptable interior color combo.

Im having troubles figuring out what to do with the gold arm rests/plastic trim bits and the brown dash. They are in great condition...ish but they do limit my color options.
