just put in new carpet, what is the best way to cut the holes for the seat bolts?

Was thinking of using a drill, then realized it would tear the carpet.

i push a small pin or something else from under the car to mark position.then inside i make a small cut at that point,a small slice with a razor or exacto should do.sharper the blade the better.if slice is not big enough, just enlarge a bit by using the hole in the floor as a guide.

I used an exacto knife when I put the new carpet in my e-bod. But I will warn you, carpet seems to take the edge off of blades really quick. So have more than one, or a points file handy to dress the blade.

use a blunt punch...go from underneath and lift the carpet up about 2 inches with the punch.....feel where the punch is and use an exacto knife...or a very sharp utility knife and cut a small hole about 3/8 in diameter around the punch..... the seat grommets will cover and seal the hole. i wouldnt punch through it with a sharp object!
