Hi all,
Does anyone know if you could get a Charger in 1970 with the roof painted a different color. Like red with a painted black top? Or were they all vinyl tops when getting two colors?
Thanks

I have never seen one with a painted top...There was a 70 roadrunner on barret jackson that was pink with a painted white top...It was special order and only 1..Hey it,s your car,Be different and do what ya want!!!

I did see that one go thru. I was thinking it didn't happen anymore by then but that got me wondering. We had them alot in the early, to mid 60's with painted tops. I think we'll stick with mono tone paint.

We painted our 69 RR back the original Rallye Green and painted the top pearl white.

Look at a list that gives codes for the fender tag. I think you'll find there was a code for painted tops.

out GTX has a painted top. only 70 v-code in the registry. so yes it was quite possible that you could get a painted top on a 70 charger.

fender tag code is V02 for two tone car. where the vinyl roof code would be you'll see a paint code

Thanks guys. Still up in the air. This is a 70 Charger, white, going to have a black stripe, has black interior. Black top is tempting, but not sure about going back to a vinyl top. Still, not sure about a black painted top either. Gotta decide pretty soon. It's getting close.

If interior is black, and stripe is going to be black..I vote for black painted top..I think it would look good

It was originally a vinyl top car. The painted top was just an idea
instead of getting a top put on again. None of the body shops around
here seem to want to mess with a vinyl top replacement.
The painted top does look nice on the GTX.

This is a very good question. I've seen painted tops on just about every Mopar except a Charger. I'd love to know if it was available?

Yes, it was available but in all my years I have never seen one.
68-70 Chargers were MADE for a vinyl top, the cars lines just beg for it and it just looks natural.
