Does anyone make an aftermarket gauge cluster (instrument panel) for the 71-72 Satellite/RR/GTX vehicles? Something that you could install Autometer gauges into?

I know some people really like the stock look but I really like the custom gauge look and the comfort of more reliable gauges.

Curious if anyone has made their own custom instrument panel as well.

Thanks

I don't believe anyone markets a custom gauge cluster for these cars, but I know some people have made their own.

There was a couple of threads on here that showed some.

I cleaned up my stock gauges.....

That rally dash looks good. I have the non-rally dash and I know I could convert but I would rather spend the money on something custom.

Anyone have a custom gauge cluster / instrument panel?

Ya, the 71 Satellite I just bought has a custom cluster.

The gages are Autometer classic street rod. The speedo & tach are 3 1/8" dia and the rest are 2 1/16" dia.
I'm taking it all out & replacing with a stock cluster.

Any chance you want to unload what you have? If nothing else, I would just like to have the cluster without the gauges. Let me know

Thanks

I may have asked these questions before, because I love the look of that, but is the cluster a flat black?

Also, where did you find the gauge faces?

Thanks!

There was a fellow on MOPARTS, user name Jerry, that made a custom insert for the non-Rallye '71-4 dashes. It used either 5 or 6 AutoMeter Gauges, 2-3 3/8" Gauges and 4-2 1/8 Gauges. I checked thier user file but it does not list a E-Mail address for him.

Hi...would you happen to have a photo of the back of the cluster? I'd like to see where all the dash bulbs go...Marla
Sorry, didn't think to take a pic of the backside.

I apologize for missing this earlier. I'm currently running for President of the Short Attention Span Society. I sanded the stock housing down and painted it flat black. The silver trim is done with a paint marker from the hobby store.
I refaced the stock gauges with a kit from Whitegauges.net

Oh, and I probably have about 40 bucks into it.

Thank you for the follow up!

I did my cluster in a pretty light gloss black, and thought of doing the insides of the bezels in silver.

I love the gauge faces!

I do agree on the gauge faces... Look great in white, be much brighter, sometimes it seems though it was just yesterday having to drive cars these old cars, but seems like they didn't seem to be so under lighted back then, i guess you don't miss what you never had.. One thing is true of the new cars of today, the ride handling, DVD playing sound, lighting, everything is top notch.. Back then if you had 300 plus HP, you were king of the hill, now look whats readily available right off the floor..

Auto meter gauges will fit into a stock Rallye gauge cluster easlily if you have one kicking around.
Here is what I did to my 74 Runners cluster...all the gauges were pooched anyway.

^I really like the way this looks. Might have to do this to my car, as I currently have everything out anyhow.

Nice work....actually looks better than I would have thought.

One question though...why such a long headlight switch?

LOL The headlight switch was funny. The car had a non rallye dash that was toast, so I picked up a rallye cluster cheap because that was no good either and just transplanted the Auto meter gauges into it. The headlight switch belive it or not reached from one side of the dash to the other so I used it. So just for the record...a non rallye headlight swithch will not fit a rallye dash LOL....BUT ....the wiper switch will.
