I went to install my headliner, and quickly found out the sail panels I have are for a Charger and not a Roadrunner. If anyone has a set of panels they would like to sell, please let me know.

On sale for "US $30.80"

It depends on what year car he has. The cardboard panels are for '71-2 cars while the '73-4 cars got the molded plastic panels. All the illistrations for the current crop of replacement panels show the '71-2 panel. They might be OK if you used a '71-2 headliner in the later cars?

There's a big Mopar junkyard about 30 minutes south of me, so I guess I'll go down there tommorrow and do some intense begging. :)

The plastic ones can be found used and on ebay. I ordered what I was told were cardboard liners from classic, they said 71-74. Not even close on the 74 so it must have been the 71-72 they sent me. Take some time wandering the web you will find them.
How did the rubber bumper bumpers come out?
Ihave a bunch of cool tech info if you need it. email.

Ok I found them Rocpar who has an E-Bay add here has a set of the plastic ones and they look just like the ones in my 74, except thiers have a different sound deadening material, jute vs a cardboard covered asphalt.
I would download the 73 & 72 parts books from mymopar and see if the part numbers are the same. or ask around, I knoew ive seen more at a better price. There is a guy parting out a late RR in the adds also.

Hey Jessipup. The bumperettes cleaned up great, and I repainted them with Duo and they look super! I'm getting a new bumper from MoparGod next Sunday and hope to get everything assembled and mounted. Of course, if the efforts goes anything like this headliner install has gone... :) But thanks so much again for your help!

As to the sail panels, those are definately different than the ones I got, but the Charger panels I got were about 3-4 inches too long for the Roadrunner, so I'm scared to order anything from a Charger.

Thats a 10-4 roger they have a different roof come to think about it

Jessipup-I am very interested in what those sails look like from Rocpar. Other thing that is proving very tough to find is the finish piece that goes on the front edge of the sail panel and against the window. I managed to save my original ones but they are rock hard. Any one know a good way to soften them up?

Hey rgp266, I'm going down to J & J Parts this week to get a set of sail panels. If you need a couple of those pieces I can see if I can snag some while I'm there. Let me know.

Ok go to interior parts for sale pg2 and this post (1971 Roadrunner Bucket Seat Rail Mounting Pads NEW ).
Open it up and follow the link to the ebay add, once there go to thier ebay store and the item will be in the store. Or if you are good at ebay I posted the ebay number in my response above but I do not know how to use that.
I'dguess that you are looking for the fuzzy that is on the inside of that panel, My gusee would be soft parts or detroit gasket, rt fasteners, steele rubber, just some kind of weather stripping company. I don't recall the panels being listed in my parts, body or chassis service manuals.
But if you need help with those books let me know. you could also do a part number search @ mymopar. From the looks of that strip it seems to be pretty uinversal, but when I go digging it usually don't turn out that way

Bruzilla, thanks for the offer but I have a good set of sail I picked up recently. If you can find the rubber fuzzy piece that fits on the front edge, goes against the Quarter window, that is still soft I would be very interested. I have the fixed windows.
Jessipup, I took a quick look at that sight, they do indeed have lots of stuff. Thanks for the link.
The link for Rocpar is now on page 3. They had everything but what I need.

Scored a pair of panels at J and J Auto Parts down in Starke. I gotta say it's getting sadder and sadder to go in that place. Another 10 years or so and all those wonderful Mopars are going to be rusted down to nothing. :(

You would think after awhile instead of just letting them rot in the ground they would sell a few off, Everything's money and they make so much on the parts, but when there is so many, you would think they would let someone keep a few from total destruction. Especially the ones that are dealing exclusively in MOPARS, Heck, they must have some kind of love for them.. But money tops the list of values. And its a pure shame to allow it.

It looks like he's got a couple dozen "select" cars stashed away, but he's got bunches that are strictly parts cars. Everything in or on them has been removed and sold or removed and dumed in a heap in the interior. I would think it would have been better to put all those parts in a warehouse and sell them that way, then sell the bodies or cut them up into panels, rather than letting them sit out and rust, but that's just me. :)

Funny guy, ol Jerry D, aint he?

He is pretty funny, but the guy knows his stuff. A guy I know who has a Demon is looking for an overdrive manual tranny for it, which I know nothing about (I'm a 727-only guy). The only thing I could remember about it was it has an aluminum case. I asked Jerry if he had one, and he proceeded to give me a 30 minute education on everything there was to know about that tranny, including when it was built, why it was built, application, and how to modify it. At the end he finally said he's got one. :)

I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than going down to J and J's with a xlarge sweet tea and talk Mopars with Jerry. :)
